This is excellent. The small nuclear reactor bit.. not the coal thing. Burning coal is dumb. Its bad for everyone except for the company selling it.

my grandparents burnt coal in the house we live in now. They went away from it in the 40s because it was, and i quote, " dirty as shit".

Nuclear.
natural gas.

Solar. Hydro. Etc etc. So many better sources.
but.. whatever to make a buck i suppose.

Coal is the past, just like Moe and Smith who want to protect the old jobs and economy at the expense of diversifying to future jobs and prosperity.

Moe now knows nuclear is a long way off and very expensive. So lets just keep aging coal plants.

Alberta built lots of gas plants and renewables a way ahead of schedule. They now have several new gas plants that cover needs and are at least 50% cleaner when it comes to emmissions.

We are still going to need fossil fuels for some time. Oil will be available for petro chemicals and other uses. Gas is a decent option for the interim because it allows for flexibilty with more renewables.

Build enough renewables at a much lower cost. Back them up with hydro and gas and strong connections to other provinces and you can reduce emissions and keep costs down.

But Alberta and Saskatchewan are laggards and using all kinds of excuses that it can't be done.

The ENERGY Corridor that Carney talks about in Canada.... Should mean clean Hydro from Manitoba,B.C and Quebec. Here in Sask we need more Electricity and Manitoba has LOTS.
Instead of investing BILLIONS on small nuclear plants that wont be here for 30 years get talking to Manitoba. But no these idiots want to go back to the 1800's and extend coal

You need to do more research, Quebec, B.C. and Manitoba are to the point, especially in B.C. where hydro production and electricity demand are almost equal. There is little excess left for export. This belief that there is excess hydro production that could be exported across Canada is a load of B.S.

Dependable sales volumes were also lower by 139 GWh or 2.2% as low water conditions resulted in no excess energy available to be sold under dependable market-based sales contracts, partially offset by higher fixed rate prices as a result of price escalations. Of the total extraprovincial revenues, $689 million or 79% was derived from the U.S. market, $166 million or 19% was from sales to Canadian markets and $17 million or 2% was related to arbitrage opportunities between wholesale energy markets

There is this belief that Canada should build a cross Canada electricity corridor supplied and energized excess hydro electric power from Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia. The problem with this vision is that the excess hydro electric power does not exist. Your post verifies this.
