    Question for SK

This true?? If so, good for you!!

On Wednesday, June 18, the Government of Saskatchewan issued a stay of execution, as it were. On that day, Minister of Crown Investments Corporation Minister and Minister Responsible for SaskPower Jeremy Harrison sent a letter to SaskPower workers, informing them that instead of shutting down its coal fleet, SaskPower would be rebuilding it, and operating it for years to come, as a bridge to nuclear power generation. That eventual nuclear adoption would lead to net zero emissions by 2050. That letter was also forwarded to Westmoreland Mining, which mines the lignite coal for Saskatchewan’s three coal-fired power stations.

It was on the news that we will be going ahead with coal and not shutting coal down, still looking at the small nuclear reactors.

While we after Notley, seal off a useable resource to burn a sellable resource, at retail, to stay warm with no real plans for nuclear yet.
      Good for SK!
Guess we're waiting for QC and BC to "give" us hydro.....

The ENERGY Corridor that Carney talks about in Canada.... Should mean clean Hydro from Manitoba,B.C and Quebec. Here in Sask we need more Electricity and Manitoba has LOTS.
Instead of investing BILLIONS on small nuclear plants that wont be here for 30 years get talking to Manitoba. But no these idiots want to go back to the 1800's and extend coal

Go ahead , try to build another hydro dam in Sask , good luck .
First Nations will make it completely infeasible and it will not even make it to a feasibility study
man some of you are totaly stunned

                What’s clean about a hydro ?
sure once set up after a massive environmental impact , massive carbon footprint to build , lost productive land for generations.
Yes a few positive things and decent 24/7 energy after the fact
Far far better than wind or solar , which are just feel good green temporary projects .
But Like all leftists you only point out part of the picture to keep the green dream alive

Word has it the Sask government is working on a massive plan for small nuclear modules all through northern Sask with First Nations
Its the only viable long term plan , fuel supply under their feet and if they can work out a partnership it will greatly benefit all of the northern communities for decades
solar and wind are useless in the northern communities as a viable , reliable source in one of the coldest winter climates on earth south of the arctic.
Its time to do the right thing

                    Balance my friend, oohsah...
It's terrible that you were picked on in school but we're adults now.
I've done a little coal coring from Obed Mountain to Bienfait SK. My uncle, from Coal Valley to Grande Cache to Elkford to Campbell River to Minot.
Although some coal plants were purposely past their prime, why shut a resource in before you have a replacement. Yes, gas. Which we can sell, lignite not so easily.
If we apply the same decision making process, when gas is gone we will truly be in the dark.
Hydro from QC wouldn't be impossible I suppose, but the transmission distance compared to NY seems an obstacle.
We allowed our coal plants to obscelesce. We married all gas.
And we sat in the mud.
Your bestie Chuck keeps touting US stats. Selectively ignoring stable long term investments in base load sources. ND and TX did not.
Nuke is a long term dream, hydro a smoke dream, gas is finite and provides export cash flow.
So flip the game board because you're losing? Is that why we legalized pot?
Get your hydro done for sure, but what are you exporting for cash in the meantime.
And just maybe, someday, where half the world's population is still forced to use coal, they'll come up with new tech out of necessity, we sure as hell won't. If we're even around.
