Do they know it’s froze in NW Sask 3 times since July 15th ?
Not widespread but unprecedented. And all of Northern Sask north of Hiway 16 into NE Alberta 80% of the canola will be well below average .

actually just checked , possibly a few pockets will have a touch of frost north again this morning
      We hit 2c ….. again

Will be well below 20 mmt

Manitoba sitting on a record Canola crop ??
There are a few on here including Agstar who are in a drought situation as bad as northern Sask
60 day percent of average moisture kinda tell opposite of record canola crop

I’m just adding context to this conversation. If you don’t agree that’s fine, or go pound sand. I’m just sharing what’s being said on the other side of the desk.

If you can guess it that close by the end of July you had better start selling the news. There’s another month to the growing season that can help or hinder the crops.

The job of grain companies is to get grain as cheap as possible.

They need tompau for the new crush plant in Regina in three years.

The grain companies last year said mega crops in a drought and took canola to 11 a bushel.

When the cupboards were empty they had to move over at $16:50.

No way that AB has bumper canola. I did a local crop tour yesterday (east end of Lamont county) and canola really starts to show drought stress. Rushed to finish baling hay Saturday because forecast rain but did not get enough this weekend to wet swaths. Most canola is only two feet tall and it is finished flowering. The Calgary area has a lot of hail damage and flood out spots from too much rain. The only way that canola did not hit $20 this summer was the fact that they are counting on new crop being available early as old crop is sold out completely. Of course stat can came tried to explain it by coming up with additional old crop production. I have a half a pail of old crop on hand that I give to the chickens but otherwise bins are empty. New crop will be available by the end of August. So $20 canola will be reality come April 2026 when hard rationing and new crop acre buying will be in full swing.

West central is going to be making up the difference in canola,Sitting with a full moisture profile. Lentils are taking it on the chin, some fields 25-50% gone
I would bet on 19mmt way before 22mmt. Still lots of growing season to go. When is a big wind event going to happen and how ripe will the crop be. More rain through harvest?
