The 15 in spacing and 12 in paired row side by side ..

Did a pass up and back on both sides
12 in paired row was 2 bushels more
Much closer than last year , but this year we were able to do exactly the same fertility at seeding time .

Was an interesting, busy couple days before these rains set in

Are you happy with the paired row? Do you think its better then the regular offset single row?

Very happy with the paired row .
Just thought we would try the single 15 in out of curiosity more than anything.
Basically, if that tractor or wheat seedling outfit goes down , we know we can use the 15 in drill if need be . Although swathing would not be an option with the 15 in drill

Does it actually leave a space between the paired row or does it basically just turn into a 3 inch spread?

Two distinct rows at seeding , then fills in during season .

              Wheatland better sample
Silas was more chaffy as the top 20% of the head was not filled
              Silas had slightly higher protein
No way of knowing but had it rained more would the Silas outyielded the Wheatland in your opinion?

Do you think the paired row handles heavy trash better then the offset opener?

A buddy SW of Battleford has same trial with 3 in more rain . That should be interesting

I think you could go lower seeding rate yet.

                            3.5 lbs was 283 bus

Ya I think 2 would be lowest in ideal conditions
Still have to worry about frost and beetles
Will do most at 2.5 next if not too dry at seeding time .
This spring was ideal conditions, 3.5 too heavy in our low rainfall area around home . Simply burnt out to quick
Here was 6 in rain so enough to carry 3.5

Hey Furrow, how wide are your packers on your paired row? I was planning to do 3 1/2 inch also even though my packers are also 3 1/2. They say not to do that…that the packers should be wider.
