Only 5 k away spring seeded wheat is dying off now from lack of moisture..

That was all nice and green a week ago
This area missed that critical rain last week

Those pictures by Square hill on that radar map . Only 25 k away
We are right on the edge , literally.
Soil holding us in there , but canola turning shades of blue last two afternoons

When they talk about a “million dollar rain” ……. Well the other 50% of the time it’s the opposite when you miss even one critical rain . But they are seen as complainers, and that is so wrong …. Reality is not nice

                Canola seed rate trial …

                2.5 lbs left
                3.5 lbs right

Has had 1 in more rain here in last 20 days than at home .
At Home , heavier land , seeded earlier
Just the way she goes sometimes
Moisture is key …… and critical moisture and timing is key , 100 % uncontrollable
My canola at home 10 miles west looks like it got hit with a blow torch when I left 20 minutes ago

Canola emergence here has been multi staged to say the least. Much needed rains came in time so looks like bare spots have enough plants to make a decent canopy. Thought my old clapped out drill was to blame but neighbours fields seeded with better drills are about the same. One really shouldn’t look at their canola fields too often for the first couple weeks at least for mental health sakes.

                        Soybeans on 30 in rows

Soybeans on 15 in rows with SM SR

The 30 in rows in plots were planted with a different outfit and about 10 days earlier.
So not a true test , more just interesting to see as the growing season continues
