Bit of a dumb question fentanyl

See it discussed on agriville alot.

In australia prescription only usually for cancer patients only and after surgeries hips knees etc etc never been a prescription pain killer for lesser ailments broken bones back pain and the likes

Googled it which means nothing but said not a prevalent problem in australia compared to North American countries well theres only two, so was it once freely subscribed and isn't. now, just wonder how its out of control.

Presume ICE is number one drug in australia.

Myself 5 months alcohol free drink asai 0.0 beer if I want one.
Did a full blood test health and well being 18 months ago maybe and doc said liver function wasnt that good limit yourself to one drink a week so thought will give up.

Anyway changed doctor because of back issue that was nothing lose weight exercise more your fine, go to new doc X-rays surgery all in about space of 6 weeks. Anyway so new doc gave me a full blood test check asked him specifically about liver he said quite normal for 62 yr old of course its not gonna be 100% all depends how one interprets figures maybe.

But have to admit ya know hot friday nights when ya have 14 15 cans of beer always a bit steady next day with what was probably liver pain working overtime in afternoons couple bottles of red wine same deal.

Reckon I will stay off forever now ive got this far.

Do miss the ole gin and tonic mostly and Bloody Marys

Fentanyl has become an issue here as it is laced into many illicit drugs. It is cheap and apparently easy to make, and compact to smuggle.

The product and the chemicals to make it come in from China directly or via the US.

Next to impossible to kick the habit once addicted. Something like 15% chance.

Ice, Meath is the same thing I’m pretty sure, Meath is a huge problem in Canada, deaths and tying up emergency and medical resources, I believe the biggest problem is the fentanyl and whatever else is mixed with the meth.

Beer and Wine consumption still dropping in Canada every year times have changed youth can't afford it or not into social drinking. Many nasty drugs less than 1/2 price of boose and last longer . Family members in health care say its a real f-ing mess.

How many times can health teams rescue the same person? ....Unlimited, until its too late.

Institutionalizing them for their own safety might be best. And not a cold turkey withdrawal either. I wouldn't expect them to seek recovery on their own if they're returned to the environment they can access the drugs and use in after they've been revived from an overdose. It seems hopeless. A cold hearted attitude would be, if they're not interested in saving themselves, why should society? But we're talking about a powerful addiction.

Stopping the flow of illegal/illicit drugs is probably a good start, good luck with that.

            Deterrents?

The addict obviously has lost the ability to care about the consequences of their actions.
Even the ultimate sacrifice, loss of their life, doesn't make them stop. Hideous addiction.

The manufacturers, smugglers and sellers? Are there any REAL consequences? Some countries have the death penalty for such actions....

In Canada, we give them, “ Safe Supply”, support and reinforce the addiction.

Only way I see to stop this madness is the death penalty.
Yes it sounds harsh but most of the people the dealers sell to end up dead anyway!

I am less sympathetic since learning that drug users are actually seeking it out, as they pursue the ultimate high and ‘edging’ (near death). Was told to me by the recreational drug crowd on a job site a couple of years ago. I have seen people overdose and die on job sites, twice. Well testers. Was swept under the rug fast. I am not impressed. Feel bad for the families though.
