Decreasing vaccination rates have allowed spread by visitors or travel by unvaccinated individuals. There needs to be a critical number of vaccinated individuals to prevent spread.

          Lifestyle choices.
Disclosure, I've known a lot of people who died. And I have or had enough predilections to certain vices myself. (Excluding the ladies, that's a weakness.)

After a certain age do you contribute a lot more to GDP?
Does it cost less to die from cancer at 68 if you lived clean? 78?
Watching Bogart movies I can see the benefit of cultural changes over time. Common sense on the clean living goal. Kudos to education.
The people I've known who passed in their early 40s and 50s, yah, damn right they could've contributed more to society. I guess so could've the classmates who were lost in late night crashes.
Like counting bushels lost to drought really.
Two old classmates died of overdose in the last year. That didn't cost the taxpayer zilch.
Another classmate has one foot in the ground due to obesity.
Neither they nor I would ever say we deserve less or more access.
The concept of deservedeness attached to the style of society you desire, and not the one I want.
A lot of people die of their own hand, it just takes a lifetime to do it.

Many farmers can be obtuse on how the average person lives.
So can the vise-less be as well.

It would be ignorant to blame it on the immigrants.

How many anti vaxxers do you know that are immigrants? All the ones I know are entitled white people who think they know better than professionals.

You truly think that we could be a nation full of people deciding to drop vaccines but as long as we didn't allow immigrants in, we'd be fine? Like those diseases would never show up without foreign people moving here.

Not sure where deservedness came in to play at.

We've flirted with that before, people who do not deserve care because of their choices, and it's not a line that should even be approached let alone danced with.

Lifestyles were simply brought up because that's the first line of defense against needing the health care system. If we want to decrease pressure and make the health care more prophylactic, we need to address lifestyle, not the type of system we are, public, private, or blended, and definitely not by denying access to people whom we judge not being worth helping due to their life choices and issues.

My farmer comment was because it's talked about on here like private is easily accessible for most. Oh just pay this a month, or this a year, or this for a procedure. That's not in the reach of most people. A lot of farmers have a lot of privilege. Many get upset when it's discussed, maybe because they interpret it like they haven't worked for what they have. The privilege is not without work, nobody says they don't work for what they have, but at the end of the day, what they have is quite a bit comparatively speaking.

I was speaking with a Pioneer rep once (he is also a farmer), how I think that would be a nice side job. Using my schedule in my favour and collecting a commission on seed sales, win win! He said I couldn't live on the commission that he makes. His commission for that year was 80K. I don't know what farmers think staff at grain elevators make, but it's not 80K Lol

For shits and giggles I ran my stuff through an online quote at Blue Cross. Just youthful, no health complications me. If I opt out of dental and prescriptions and get premium, so $7500 coverage a year, it would cost $70 a month.

Which could be worth it for the psychologist and massage coverages. Not sure on the $7500 a year maximum part. Wouldn't put a dent in a lot of things should anything actually happen, if that's all you get in a year.

I honestly don't know what other companies are out there that offer medical coverage? I've been blessed to live with no health issues that require me to even vaguely look into it. I've only recently started actually using work benefits.....

Check out the limits on psych.
$7500 might only be 2 hours per month for a year for an experienced one.

$225/ visit up to $1000/year. Which is enough when paired with my work stuff.

Spend $840 to save $1000? Haha Something to keep in mind though.

                      Blaithin.
We agree, I just have an opaque way of getting it across, sorry if I was hard to understand.
Personal responsibility is the governance of oneself. Hippocratic oath, of society.
I have heard some coming close to placing one over the other. Better Angels phrase often comes to mind.
