Why can't you look past it to the many many successful examples of hybrid systems across the Western world.Originally posted by agstar77 View PostI can see our system is not perfect, but the outcomes and costs are far better . Since the U.S. system is the only one based on for profit it's hard to look past it.
Especially since you despise the Americans.
I think it says more about your narrow mindset and those on the left than anything.

Why are you so hung up on America? To you it's either Canadian or American, no in between.Originally posted by agstar77 View PostI can see our system is not perfect, but the outcomes and costs are far better . Since the U.S. system is the only one based on for profit it's hard to look past it.
Meanwhile Mallee is giving you a real time example of a blended system, and Australia is not the only country working with a blended program. There are more than 2 countries in the world after all.
Maybe instead of just swinging your head from left to right, Canada to America, stop and look at the vista in between and see how it is working for other nations. Use some critical thinking and cherry pick the good and bad from those countries and superimpose them on to us and see how that movie plays out in your minds eye (hopefully it's not so blind as your central vision).
No matter how many times people say "Supporting private does not mean we support going fully private and eliminating the public options." you roll on right past that and keep saying "America doesn't work". It's not a discussion if you refuse to even acknowledge what an opposing view is saying, you're just on repeat belting out the same track over and over again.
Go research Australia, Norway, the UK, Germany, Japan.... I challenge you to continue in this discussion without ever mentioning America again, use only other nations to defend your position.

The discussion really was about universal Healthcare. The private versus public is just a product of the total Healthcare discussion. Can we agree on universal Healthcare? Which system is more cost efficient and has better outcomes is an entirely different discussion. When you mention Australia's mixed system it would be interesting to know how private hospitals operate. Do they accept patients without health insurance? If they do are they treated the same as insured patients? If only private hospitals will be Australia's future who pays for universal Healthcare and how will it be delivered?Last edited by agstar77; Dec 9, 2025, 13:46.

The entire thread is Mallee sharing that he’s going private instead of public with the addition of how public was there for his hired man.
How the mixed system works in Australia.
Whatever you read that was for or against universal health care must have been on the back of your eyelids.Last edited by Blaithin; Dec 9, 2025, 13:49.
