Lots of different names on here buckwheat. I would rather be stuck in the 1960's than be here watching my country bleed red ink because of the Liberals that you are infatuated with.

Sorry to give you the truth there bud.

At the same time, the Eby government has supported a project to expand oil shipments off the south coast.

Federally owned Trans Mountain is unable to fill Aframax-class oil tankers to capacity at its Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby because of the constraints of navigating through the Second Narrows in Burrard Inlet. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is leading a proposal to dredge a section of the waterway to allow Trans Mountain to ship more oil.

Mr. Eby, who opposed the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline, said support for the dredging is a necessary trade-off as Canada seeks to diversify its economy in the face of trade wars with the United States and China.

“This calls for, and will require, an expansion of shipping to Asia across the Pacific,” he said. “That brings with it a responsibility and obligation on the provincial and federal governments to work with these coastal First Nations leaders to mitigate any harms to the coast.”
Chuck, as has been asked previously, do you even read what you post?

In defending Dave Eby's position on pipelines, you quote your favorite source Toronto's Globe and Mail.

They argue that Climate activist Eby is making a sacrifice because he might allow routine harbor maintenance on what is probably Canada's busiest port?
Dredging is routine annual maintenance as all harbors naturally silt in due to tides.

Then he goes on to say he will have to consult local bands to see if it's OK for Canada to ship product?

Canada is not a serious country if we have to consult with climate activists and local native bands to decide if we are going to allow routine dredging to maintain our export facilities?

There is nowhere in the world that that would be a consideration.

Nowhere? Are you sure on that Shite? LOL

Most of Europe has stronger environmental and climate change policies along with a lot more renewable energy!

              So get the facts straight!

Serious countries protect the environment shite!

Or should industry and your neighbors feel free to do what ever they want and seriously pollute your air and water supply or aquifer?

If you think that's okay Shite, then lets put an unregulated toxic waste dump next to your house Shite! LOL

An unregulated toxic waste dump is comparable to annual harbour maintenance?

                You made my point?

But you said nobody should have to consult First nations? Wrong!

Its required by law and is important for consent based agreements!

                  Get the facts straight Shite!

"Premier Eby supports the expansion of Vancouver's port facilities to boost exports and economic growth, particularly for potash from Saskatchewan, and is advocating for expedited federal reviews of projects like Global Container Terminals' expansion and dredging to increase shipping capacity
. He sees this as a necessary trade-off for diversifying the economy, and his government is also pursuing clean energy initiatives like the North Coast Transmission Line to support industrial projects, including potential port expansions, while aiming for partnerships with First Nations and environmental protections."

                  Key Eby plans and initiatives
                  • Support for the Global Container Terminals (GCT) expansion: Eby supports the GCT proposal to add a fourth berth, expand the rail yard, and dredge to increase capacity for international shipping. He is advocating for a fast-track federal review of this project.
                  • Dredging for increased oil exports: His government supports a separate proposal by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority to dredge a section of the waterway to allow larger oil tankers to pass, which is necessary for Trans Mountain to fill tankers to capacity.
                  • Advocacy for expedited project approvals: Eby is planning to travel to Ottawa to advocate for the speedy assessment of major projects in British Columbia, including the GCT expansion and LNG Canada Phase 2.
                  • Clean energy initiatives: The government is pushing for projects like the North Coast Transmission Line which would provide clean electricity to power port expansions, mining, and other industries.
                  • Focus on economic diversification: Eby's support for port expansion is framed as a way to diversify the economy and secure trade routes, especially in the face of trade tensions with countries like the U.S. and China.
                  • Partnerships and environmental mitigation: A key part of his approach is working with First Nations to mitigate the environmental impacts of these projects and achieve consent-based agreements.

Shite its sounds like you don't want a toxic waste dump next to your house after all! LOL

Damn those environmental regulations that would prevent that! Even though it would be quite profitable and good for economy!
