Dave Eby might be just the guy to push the Alberta Separation movement ahead.

He brought in a few militant activist Chiefs to declare to the world BC is not interested in any type of industry as they have their own ideas on where money comes from.

    Eby proclaimed:
“What I’ve heard the federal government say is that they will not advance projects over the objections of the provincial governments or First Nations.”?

So much for the Idea that we can do without the US if we all stand together to make Canada great?

Now for the whole story! Which you guys conveniently ignore!

"Mr. Eby told reporters that the economics of a possible Alberta oil pipeline to the west coast do not outweigh the projects already under way in Northwestern B.C.

“Protecting our coast is not a threat to the Canadian economy. It is, in fact, a strategy for the Canadian economy,” he said. “One crude oil spill would destroy billions of dollars in economic activity, would destroy the livelihoods of thousands of people and families up and down the coast, and there is no technology, no ability to clean up that spill.”

At the same time, the Eby government has supported a project to expand oil shipments off the south coast.

Federally owned Trans Mountain is unable to fill Aframax-class oil tankers to capacity at its Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby because of the constraints of navigating through the Second Narrows in Burrard Inlet. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is leading a proposal to dredge a section of the waterway to allow Trans Mountain to ship more oil.

Mr. Eby, who opposed the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline, said support for the dredging is a necessary trade-off as Canada seeks to diversify its economy in the face of trade wars with the United States and China.

“This calls for, and will require, an expansion of shipping to Asia across the Pacific,” he said. “That brings with it a responsibility and obligation on the provincial and federal governments to work with these coastal First Nations leaders to mitigate any harms to the coast.”

So you think Canada doesn't need the US because we can work together and build our economy within?

Danny likes Eby and Eby will cooperate to make Camada's economy strong like BC 's?

Manitoba votes ndp. They have been getting equalization payments since its inception. You think that they would vote in favour of leaving? Or that alberta / sask would take them?
If Alberta separates, equalization is pretty much over. Yes Manitoba, would vote to join the west. If they don’t, they would instantly be in financial trouble.

Not a chance any western province is going to vote to separate.

This is just long term grievance politics fanned by the flames of a couple of western premiers who want to distract from their own dismal record on healthcare and education. The 2 biggest budget items and their 2 biggest failures.

Blaming and fighting the feds has been a staple of conservative premiers.

And Carney is taking the wind out any separatist movement by governing as a Progressive Conservative.

The threat of Trump's attack on our economy are scaring the hell out every provincial premier including Smith who worries about Venezuelan oil reserves coming back on stream.

Trump has clearly said he doesn't need us for anything which is a lie. But Venezuelan oil will displace more expensive Alberta oil over time.

Meanwhile Poilievre is alienating his own MPs with Trump lite culture wars and a isolationist leadership style that is toxic and abrasive.

The inside word is progressive conservatives are being threatened in a desperate attempt to stop them from crossing the floor.

The CPP is no longer a big tent party and it's shrinking under PP's leadership as MAGA support and thinking has infiltrated. Trump and MAGA are becoming deeply unpopular in the US and much more so in Canada.

PP is 20 points behind Carney as Prime Minister. If he doesn't get turfed they will lose the next election. He may not even make the leadership contest after the disastrous last few weeks

PP doesn't get along with Ford or Nova Scotia's premier and they have not supported his toxic leadership.

What would be the advantage of MB joining Alberta? There would be no more equalization payments either way. They would be father or more costly to get grain to tide water for their grain and manufactured products, their markets for G&O are eastern Can and the USA, they buy Nat Gas from the west not sure that would change.

Better question is why would Alberta want them? They are a so called: have not province.
