pure exaggeration , to say now that the largest event in Canadian history since ww2 that has cost many billions is not worth the cost to look back and see what was done right and was not is ridiculous

anyhow looks like government can see the majority don't care
and they wont need to explain why they do what they do

and it all can and will happen again

All this debate about inquiries misses the fact that governments and by extension voters have a dismal track record of learning from their mistakes.

An inquiry would not result in a government being honest about why they did what they did. Nor would it result in an honest apology or anything else. It would be a sinkhole for money with no legitimate results.

If a population is done with a government here, then we can let it be known through our voting. An inquiry would not change the results of recent elections no matter what people tell themselves to the contrary.

People are heard through our votes.

We are not heard through our story telling capabilities.

Just one small correction. Eastern Canadians are heard through their vote.

Well… yeah they're the younger child that’s catered too while we’re listened to with one ear and considered mature enough to manage on our own.

If our votes don’t get many ears in the government then the expectation our stories would is extra ludicrous.

our votes west here don't get ears , but if the people in the east wanted answers would they be ignored the same ?
the only conclusion i can come to is if the majority don't care they don't want answers or truth

Truth is subjective. It’s also theoretical in this case. Can’t run a scenario with no government intervention to see how that would turn out to know if it would have been preferable.

Cant just sit there and claim it would have been perfectly fine and no big issues. That would be naive as there’s no way to know. You don’t get a cloud lined in silver just because you think you should.

There’s more nuance to life than just “I don’t like the way things went, the way I think they should have gone would have been guaranteed to be better just because”

People have their own struggles, so no, they don’t particularly care about random people.

So your claim is that because social media has a high percentage of asshole keyboard warriors, an inquiry would be a safer place for someone to tell their story without facing insults?

You’re going to be insulted no matter what because no matter what someone is going to disagree with you and be a dick about it. That’s life. Telling your story does not mean you aren’t going to be judged, ridiculed, or insulted, no matter where you tell it, no matter what platform you tell it on, no matter what your goal is for telling it.
