Fringe thinkers believe Chinese solar panels and short lived windmills will replace wealth from the petroleum industry to provide for their socialist programs

Why would I want to fatten the oil industry controlled by OPEC cartel when I can produce my own electricity which will charge an EV at less than 1/2 the cost?

25% of world vehicle sales are now EVs. Do you really think there will be many ICE vehicles here in 30 years?

Battery innovation and improvement is developing rapidly.

Long term maybe , short term no
until proven cold weather EV’s with vastly extended range come available, it’s a waste of time for the most part in 95% of Canadas geography.
Yes without a doubt there will still be ice vehicles in 30 years in many parts of rural Canada .

Most commuters drive less than 50 km a day at the most. Easily within the range of all EVs.

Teslas already have a range of about 500km in summer and a 3rd less in winter. That is sufficient for a lot of drivers.

But the price of buying an EV is currently too high. That's why most consumers won't buy one.

You still have to have that ice vehicle as an alternative when you live in areas not well served with infrastructure due to sparce population.
            Most of rural North America.
Most of those people can't afford one EV, certainly not 2 vehicles.

Most in urban areas don't have the opportunity to home charge.

Mandated ownership is a pipe dream of woke politico's

Great for them , but this policy should not be forced onto everyone until long range cold reliability is achieved.
Canada is a vast country and one of the coldest climates on earth .
Many have to travel vast distances, including those in the far north like many First Nations.
A complete ban on ice vehicles before a viable option would be disastrous for the vast majority of rural and indigenous communities

                  Confused.
Electricity second most important discovery for mankind after fire.
Oil the third. When you're done arguing over fuel, how are you replacing all the byproducts?

Believe I read that for $60k AUD, you can buy a BYD compact pickup truck with a 100 km battery and a 750km gasoline tank.

Cousins in China now say that in last 10 years EV has taken over the roads.

                  Explain....
Why electricity getting prohibitively expensive in some parts of world.
What are you replacing petroleum with.
And why are affordable BYDs unavailable in NA?

                  I'll wait.....

Corrected range for the byd shark.
                  840 km combined.
