If tRump is going to treat us like shit, we might as well trade with China and let them manufacture their lower cost cars here.

Then maybe the big 3 will their act together and produce some lower cost cars instead of trying to sell everybody a super profitable gas guzzling pickup!

The crack pots in the White house are raising tariff fears again on the EU and the price of oil is falling again today.

So which oil companies are going to drill baby drill when oil prices are falling like a stone?

Get ready for a tRump recession as donny kills the economy!

Alberta and danny sure got their way with tRump!

They've always needed to sell higher margin models to cover the low margin ones.
As for affordable. The 3 auto makers are going to boil in their own stew eventually. I can't feel sympathy when it happens.
Not for focusing on profitable models. But for trying to shut out the world while protecting the unions.
      See Canada Post.

              Absolutely, study China's track record......
But shutting them out and ignoring them will work the same as if you did that to your wife.
All the while, our industry atrophies from age. And our lower/ middle class are vehicle poor. Opposite of Henry Ford's successful strategy.
You're either ahead of or underneath change. Climate crap a head fake.

Like it or not EV's will replace most light vehicles. If 25% of new vehicle sales worldwide are already EVs or plug in hybrids how long will it take before 50% or 75% are all EVs?

42% of American's drive used vehicles.
Explain how that is going to work when the batteries are worth more than a large part of the cars you see on the street?

Give us the government is in control solution.

Parts obscelesence experienced since 08 suggests fix forever not an option sadly.
We will need throwaway Model A hybrids.
Chuck hasn't answered why we can't have affordable ones.

North American car companies have focused on selling higher end EVs as a luxury vehicle to consumers who can afford it.

Lower priced EVs will sell much better. And once price parity is established it will open the flood gates.
