Curly Moe and the gang are vulnerable when it comes to their record on education, healthcare, and affordability. Theses are all areas where Curly Moe is responsible and can fix some problems.

Why doesn't he axe some of the PST and other provincial taxes which unlike the carbon tax are not rebated?

Instead he would rather fight with Ottawa and pick divisive issues to distract from his record?

      You going to run again?

It’s voter fatigue but voting out a tired past their best before date party for a known quantity such as the ndp is bloody scary. Seen other day Alberta ndp leadership runner talking of breaking from ndp playbook and building a party which speaks for Albertans. Is that something possible or is the fact the federal and provincial wings are one and the same? The LEAP Manifesto is some scary reading and to think if ndp were to act on a portion of it would mean troubling times for industry here. I can envision uhauls loaded to the tits headed west again. Sounds facetious but it happened in the past.

Not a fan of the PST but someone has to pay the bills .
reality is the budget won’t balance itself …. Ever .
carbon tax is not rebated , it’s a reallocated tax scheme to punish the oil and gas industry. Tell it for what it is .

I see some of the Alberta NDP leadership candidates are suggesting they will break from the Federal CO2 tax. They don't buy the BS that the consumer gets more back than they pay. It's a good start. Except, if you read between the lines, they seem to want to make businesses pay it instead.

For as revolutionary as what the ndp tries to portray with its welfare state policies and drilling down on business, they are rather stale. Think the climate crisis has infested their brains and they don’t have a future vision of shared prosperity but a more soviet style dread. Boogeyman politics

Yes leadership hopeful Sara Hoffman was on QR 770 this morning, interviewed by Shaye Ganam. Like Rakhi Pancholi, another candidate, she said that the consumer carbon tax had to go. But when asked if their proposed hike to the corporate tax rate had lost them the last election, she did a Trudeau dance around the question but did say she thought that highly profitable big corporations should pay their fair share, so no doubt an increased cost for businesses to do business in Alberta if the NDP were in power. Not sure why the party that brought the consumer carbon tax to Alberta without running on it now wants it gone, certainly an about face. Maybe it is Poilievre’s large lead in the national polls. If an election was held today the Conservatives would theoretically win over 200 seats according to 338 Canada.

"Carbon tax is not rebated"? Huh? Do you never look at your bank account because it is direct deposited. I received $1120 last year in carbon tax rebates in 2023. Just got a quarterly payment of $280 a few weeks ago which easily covers all our farm direct carbon tax payments for gas and electricity.

80% of consumers in provinces that don't have their own carbon tax receive rebates.

90% of the carbon tax is rebated.

The parlimentary budget officer and economist Trevor Tombe showed that the carbon tax has very little impact on inflation and is well below 1%.

                    Chuck is slowly catching on.
Notice the use of the word direct.
Acknowledging that the indirect costs are far more substantial.

The indirect costs are quite low if they only add a small amount to inflation rate in Canada. So says Trevor Tombe at the U of C.

But you probably know more than Tombe who crunches these numbers for a living?

So what's the point of the scheme? Certainly NOT for saving the planet.

Wealth redistribution to the gullible for VOTES!

A long time ago we were taught to not pay compounded interest.
The carbon tax, along with GST, are compounded.
As different products are handled different amount of times, to come up with a true amount would be difficult(compounded) so extra difficult!

The only one good thing about the carbon scam tax is its putting the final nails in the liberal / NDP coffin
