2023 shatters climate records, with major impacts

            30 November 2023
Geneva/Dubai (WMO) - 2023 has shattered climate records, accompanied by extreme weather which has left a trail of devastation and despair, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

            Key messages
            • 2023 set to be warmest year on record
            • Greenhouse gas levels continue to increase
            • Record sea surface temperatures and sea level rise
            • Record low Antarctic sea ice
            • Extreme weather causes death and devastation

The WMO provisional State of the Global Climate report confirms that 2023 is set to be the warmest year on record. Data until the end of October shows that the year was about 1.40 degrees Celsius (with a margin of uncertainty of ±0.12°C )above the pre-industrial 1850-1900 baseline. The difference between 2023 and 2016 and 2020 - which were previously ranked as the warmest years - is such that the final two months are very unlikely to affect the ranking.
The past nine years, 2015 to 2023, were the warmest on record. The warming El Niño event, which emerged during the Northern Hemisphere spring of 2023 and developed rapidly during summer, is likely to further fuel the heat in 2024 because El Niño typically has the greatest impact on global temperatures after it peaks.

So how do we instantly stop warming? 1.6% of world population be a big ask. Be all dead by 2030 at this rate.

Alberta and Saskatchewan are still planning to get to net zero on electricity generation by 2050. The Feds say 2035, so only 15 years difference.

So how are the provinces going to get there that doesn't cost something? What is their plan?

80% of households are getting more money back than they are spending on a carbon tax.

If you cut your emissions you save even more money.

I have posted article after article that showed the carbon tax is not causing much inflation.

Is Curly Moe prepared to cut their provincial taxes on heating to address affordability? Hell no! Why not?

He is a hypocritical dud who thinks the rule of law doesn't matter!

Aren't you the poster who keeps claiming that renewables are the cheapest generation?
Why do you now accept that getting to net zero will cost something? Have you checked into the cut and paste you made a while back which indicated that renewables cost 28 times more than fossil fuels?

” When we get to net zero”. We probably have been at net zero here for years with the number of trees and carbon sinks in Saskatchewan, the great frontier. The ‘Experts’ are adept at manipulating, extrapolating and pontificating and we will never be “Net Zero” until all the money has flowed to Green Machine’s pockets. That’s the plan Stan.

I told you that I get a rebate and that I paid more carbon tax in 2 months than the rebate was . That was just on NG alone
