On the CBC today:”Family ditches electric truck on drive fro east Winnipeg to Chicago after charging troubles.”

Highlights. Person bought the truck for $115000 in January. Spent an additional $16000 installing chargers at his home and business and upgrading his electrical panel. Truck has a rated range of 515 km. Left on his trip. First charge at Fargo North Dakota. 350 kms, charged from 10% to 90% for $56. The trouble began in Albertville, Minn., the only fast charger brought up a faulty connection message on his truck. Headed to another charger in Elk River, Minn., it wouldn’t work either. With 15 kilometres left on his battery and no fast charger in range he got it towed to a Ford dealership and rented a Toyota 4Runner to finish his trip. Now he just uses his truck to commute 100 kms round trip daily to work. A very expensive vehicle for this purpose lol. Obviously real life experience showed the rated range is exaggerated.

Our hybrid works really well and EV range would be more than enough for most city commutes and electric cost per 100 km is about half the cost of gas.

Of course stories about the F150 lightning get lots of attention but you hardly hear about all the drivers who don't have problems with EV range and charging.

EVs have come a long way in a short few years and will no doubt improve year after year. Especially with the new solid state battery technology that toyota and panasonic have developed.

So Lieberal/Turdo $14 billion battery boondoggle is for old shit tech? Obsolete before any production?

Rain /cold bad for range , just like calm wind and cloudy to F up your charging day.

                .
Out of curiosity, have you ever looked at the top of the page where The forum name is listed. On the top of my page, it says rural issues and the website is called Agriville, Agri as in agriculture.
What I can deduce from those simple facts is that your primary audience is composed of people in the agricultural industry who live in rural areas. Who have come here to read about issues that affect people in the agricultural industry who live in rural areas.
Lecturing such rural people about the utility of electric vehicles in the city, seems like a very inefficient way to reach your target audience. May I suggest an alternate forum where you might reach more people who live in a City and art primary agricultural producers. Your time will be much better spent lecturing them than lecturing a bunch of rural farmers.
                Such as the following forum:
..to promote ecology in motoring .. and lobby various levels of government to install more charging stations ...designated parking spots in malls and shops ...introduce free parking in major cities...

As for costing half as much to charge an electric vehicle versus a gasoline vehicle, I just looked up all of the taxes on a liter of gas in vancouver, and it works out to 60 cents. Correction, the article I found was 4 years old. So the CO2 tax is much much higher now than it was then. So the total taxes per litre will be much higher than $.60 now.
That works out to almost half the cost of the gasoline. Come to think of it, there is no tax on the electricity used to charge the electric vehicle. So if the double standard was removed, and the electric vehicle owners paid as much tax as everyone else, it would cost at least as much to recharge the electric vehicle.

They should have pushed the hybrids more, rather than the full on EVs. I booked a rental for a week while in the US last winter. Ended up being given a Prius Hybrid. We drove for a week and it took $5 to fill the tank before we dropped it back off at Avis, that’s it for a weeks worth of driving. I was impressed. I realize it’s a small car but still a 4 door.

We caught some Mariners games couple weeks ago. Every Uber is a hybrid. Lots of hybrids in general.
