Pea yield estimation?

Ours are chest high in places... average is to my belly.

8 peas a pod on thr bottom 6 at the top still flowering like a bugger.

A lot of the value of peas is in extending rotation for another year and some nitrogen left behind. Saw 5 bu ac last yr advantage to canola grown on pea stubble vs cereal stubble.

Last 4 years our peas average 54 bu...

Take that down to 50.

Average price has been around 7 over the 4 let's take that to 6.


50x6=300.

160 an ac inputs

140 an ac profit.

Higher than most crops we grow. Lower risk than canola.

Actually peas and oats make us more than wheat. Canola makes more than all on a good year but double the risk.

6' free wheat... No wonder we see eye to eye I had some last year that grew 5' and really they didn't yield much more than the ones that were 4'. The odd place they would yield considerably more but overall not much. But they all fell over flat as a pancake. Real pita for harvest and seeding. Klauses look like a 60 to me. Meadows can have a lot of growth, which can be a strike against the variety in my opinion.. The pea crop is a dud in many areas but still very good in others. Am expecting good yields out of mine as well. Good luck freewheat hope you get them

Back in the late 90's I grew certified deltas and they ran over 80 hauled to plant. Never that kind of yield again.Stood tall and cut leaving lots of stubble versus neighbours who had Grandes that yielded 40 fell flat and then had to hire disc seeders to seed thru the mess. I do think peas are definitely a once every 4 year crop as yield Definately drops if closer

That's what my peas look like in the strips missed by burn off . In a way I am glad my 100ft sprayer was set fri 1260 inch's for the first half off burn off
I am takeing a 40 plus bus loss but at least I have definite proof of loss

We have one half section that I fuked up and put on less - warm chem so too speak - should be 40-50 bus

Furrow, have you made a claim against the offending product, if you have, how are you making out? Are they telling you it was the perfect storm or all the wrong stars lined up scenario. Are you allowed to talk about it so the rest of us dont make the same mistake. o
