    Hopper,

We normally put on 125-175lb/ac as a top up.

75N side banded with the seed... for a total of 100-110N

The Canola seems to pickup the fines very quickly... and needs the vast majority of S when blooming anyway.

If moisture is good... then it sure perks everything up!

We used to float on the fines when it was still considered a "waste" product. Then you only paid for the N, the sulfer was "free". Most we put on was 300plus pounds. About 60N and 60S. They'd bring the trucks right to the field with the floater. DO NOT STORE that crap! You'll spend all spring chipping it out of the bin. We floated it just at seeding and only needed a small blend of starter fertilizer. Seemed to work well and our soil tests are still high in S.

Just back from brandon but hopper dont try to bin over winter sulfur fines wont get out of bin. Maybe add kitty litter that did work once.
Also we have tried 400lbs of fines once really great results.
        Sulfur is key.

Not binning the stuff when did I say was going to bin it? I would bin blendable but fines get delivered at application time. Dealer says they would store it in shed at times so farmer could probably do the same and pick it up with a loader into truck. If such a deal comes along but nothing at the moment.
I am leaning to bank on this S price to bring down N some for now. Time will tell.

i see viterra saying sales are starting to pick up now. anybody care to guess how the actual tonnage of nutrients used for the 09 crop will vary from the five year average? my guess would be that it will be within a couple of per cent. it would be interesting to know viterra's guess because i'm sure that is the biggest factor in their pricing and marketing strategies.

20% down unless prices for grains picks up. Just from whats in place at the one I know about sales of seed is down and farmers are pst.
But if theirs even a glimpse of price rise look out.
