I won’t be letting go of anymore grain from the bins now.

Real sad all the damage seen on FB.
loss of acres will put those crop numbers in the toilet.
Ctv gave it 30 seconds..
is there any area that's not getting blasted with to much rain?Last edited by Grain Farmer; Jun 30, 2026, 18:38.

now the crop protection professionals will be pushing fungicides and miracle grow on everything to "protect the yield". product will be scarce because everybody is doing it... so hurry small window of application. It will more than pay in the crops that aren't drowned to cover flooded acres. meanwhile prices drop because rain makes grain and all the algorithms and day traders know this to be absolutely true. A lie repeated loudly and often enough becomes believable.
so this fella is conserving cash, locking bins, returning chems and empties. No auctions, no crop shows no "free" meals looking at seed plots... nothing, nada, no mas!
take this for what its worth, I'm not the dumbest farmer around but I am certainly hoping the dumbest farmer doesn't die!
talk to your neighbours, do regular mental health checks and hang in there... ignore all the beautiful crop pictures posted on social media if you can.
Make the mental adjustment from being a producer to being a sharp business operator, make sure you get a positive return on every cent you invest in this crop. quit chasing yields and chase profits and return on investment. Pay yourself to do crop scouting and give you gut feeling just as much credit as that cute new crop protection specialist looking out for their year end bonuses rather than your financial well being.
Sorry for the preachy rant... but 3 days of unrelenting rain on already saturated fields is getting to me.

With the low GDD combined with over 50.% of the canola crop under severe moisture stress the market better pay attention
at least 1/2 the canola crop in western Canada is very far behind

Starting to see some ugly color change in the lentil fields around here. I imagine there are going to be a heck of a lot of acres with zero yield due to root rot complex this year.
