Good morning, it’s a big week for Ag in Canada, as our PM is heading to China to get us a deal we can’t refuse.
Fat Doug Ford says leave the EV industry alone and screw western farmers. Well for over a year nothing has happened on that front so probably nothing will happen now.
I'm worried canola is finally making a breakout from the doldrums after the stupid StatsCan report. Let’s all call that report what it really is a crock of shit.
We’re inching up on $14 again where we should be and South America has some dry spots showing up Australia is done with harvest and China needs our product.
But here is the real problem some don’t get, Trump wanted the liberals to win so that he could show the world all our problems and hope we figured it out that Trudesu got us in bed with the wrong ones.
What the USA wants in this big old world is to protect NA at all costs, China was making big inroads in the usa and Americans were worried. The idiot Trudeau had zero clue what was going on as long as his acting could continue. Then throw in the fake climate scam and Europe trying to regain control by any means even if it meant destroying all of it.
So enters the USA Americans were pissed at open boarders lost years and fat politicians getting fatter for no reason.
Love him or hate him the USA is on its last try to stop the anointing of socialism worldwide.
On the farm front, we have been hit so many times by China and yet some still don't get it.
Why get in bed with the country really hurting you?
This week Iran will fall and funny Venezuelians are happy yet Canadian TV is blaming Trump.
But back to Ag, as we all plan for 2026 what looks good? Right now really nothing, peas most likely have bins full, lentils most likely the same, durum who knows? And wheat the filler crop below 7 isn't making money. Canola acres will explode and that will be a massive problem. Can you say $10? I'm not joking it's almost like they planned this.
The food chart introduced in the USA has meat on top of grains at the bottom. Eat meat and potatoes and a slice of two pieces of bread and margarine.
Then Angelic has a pod cast it must have been huge because I signed in late and never got on. I was registered because I like to hear from players.
What was discussed and what's his take?
Farmers are getting left behind again as Fert is up, seed us up and chemicals keep going higher. Equipment is insane so what's the one controllable thing it's land values and rent. Maybe be gappy with your size and make those acres the best they can be instead of chasing rainbows across the fence.
Some usa farmers are realizing that if you farm 3000 acres farm it's good and farm accordingly. If the BTO wants 100000 acres give him enough rope. This all happened in the 80s and it's happening again.
So maybe we need to start with a more united farm front. They want 50 different groups fighting so we lose. Splitting into a bunch of organizations got us piss all. Even the useless farmers' union needs to wake up and look out for Ag. It shouldn't matter what size you farm if you enjoy your farm. But if your betting on investors on the large size or the government on the small I think you're not winning anything.
Corruption is getting exposed in the USA wouldn't it be nice if that same thing happened in canada and we actually saw where all the money went?
Have a great weekend and week let's hope something positive happens next week.
It's time for a drink.
Or, for stormy vibes matching the times, the Dark ‘n’ Stormy—spicy, refreshing, and darkly satisfying.
Dark ‘n’ Stormy Recipe
• 2 oz dark rum
• 3-4 oz ginger beer
• 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
Build over ice in a highball glass, top with ginger and beer, garnish with a lime wedge.

I was trying to fly home to get to the UofS Ag grads reunion it's 40 years for a great bunch of women and men. But unfortunately air travel sucks and I can't get a flight out of Orlando till Sunday so have avgrest time.
