    Power pricing and observations.

Our power price in January will drop from 8.85 to 8.5 c/kwh for 2026. One advantage being in an REA is that there are no additional fixed charge associated with this contract. Add in GST and it is a 4% drop. Alberta pool prices, however are still under 4 c/kwh. Alberta is likely home to some of the lowest power costs in canuckistan these days. Yesterday we were exporting approx. 1000 Mwh to BC most of the day. BC was also importing 1500 Mwh from the US at the same time. What is the site C dam doing? If you have a drought, hydro is as unreliable as wind. Anyways, compare AB to ontariowe: ALBERTA uses about 55% as much power as ontariowe which has over 3 times the population. Alberta which produces stuff like petrochemicals has a much bigger economy than ontariowe, that has an economy consisting of gubmint consulting these days.

I'm with an REA as well. But other charges after energy depend on transformer size and breaker size.

Oz should be considered one of the ideal locations for solar?
Lots of sun and fairly similar prodution yr round?
Much better capacity factor than much of Canada?

Running full blast it will take 28 yrs to recapture that investment with no operating costs. With costs it has likely close to a 50 year payback. Even solar panels beat that. Mind you a brand new X9 or CR11 will also have a 50 year payback when adding in header and cart etc. I am still amortizing equipment that is currently 40 years old so likely doable.
