Panic in the Field! Case Combine Catches Fire During Harvest!

What started as a routine wheat harvest turned into chaos when a Case IH combine suddenly caught fire in the middle of the field. Watch the frantic scramble to put out the flames and stop the blaze from spreading through the dry crop. A gripping reminder of just how fast harvest can go from smooth to dangerous.

Two of different colors went up here this year.
Essentially you are wasting water on the machine. Fire control spent on spreading prevention. Once the fire was noticed the operators had barely time to hit the ground before flames over grain tank.
1100 litres diesel in a plastic tank.

On Case combines, high heat from exhaust system is igniting chaff and then it falls on the hydraulic tank and lines. Sammy smelt it early enough that 3 water bottles and 2 dr. peppers controlled it till our fire truck could get there, only a couple of minutes. Lucky this time and hats off to Sammy for being on the watch. Combines are blown off every morning but should be done by late afternoon also. Would help if there was no high heat def system.

That’s for sure. I think all the supposed environmental benefits of emissions systems pale in comparison to 6 tires plus the fuel, oils, and plastic going up in smoke.
