Oh one more its Sept 11 Th where were you?
Hrs and Durum harvest is in full swing. Our new to our area BTO guy just took out a few RM road signs. They are all useless workers the boss just sends orders they aren't farmers. Yields are up and down but getting bigger as we get into later seeded stuff. Its definitely the year the early bird got roasted.

Peas and lentils are done both had decent to awesome yields.

Barley the early is done the later seeded is coming off and the late late is going to be green feed or might make something.

Flax is ready to harvest but other crops are priority.

Canary is at same stage as flax, both will yield less than other years.

Canola is all sprayed or in swaths waiting to get harvested, so guys who are caught up are doing fall work. Few early seeded yield results are ugly. It might be like wheat the later you went the better.

Hay and pastures need a rain and last weeks 1/3 inch are keeping them growing.

Big rain on its way maybe more hype than substance we will see but last night we missed the dump it went south of the valley.

Off to spray the pig shit it made it. That farm was plus 2 to 3 both events.

Good field,bad field depending on which got a freak thundershower 20-45 canola barley 80-90 oats about same depending how you set the wind. Beans look good so we will see. About 60% done. Must have been a good run local area littered with down combines burnt wire harnesses and melted circuit boards. Remember the good old days when you would lose 1/2 a day changing a barring. Heavy rain and lightning this morning.

Barley on light land barely made 40.

We have now done some of every type of crop we planted. We were waiting on our barley so we did a half of swathed canola. Yielded just over 50 bushels per acre. Talking to a couple of neighbours yields sound similar. Barley, seeded in the last third of May, just started last night. Esma barley, nice crop, one pass over and back on the quarter puts about 500 bushels on the truck.
Hard red wheat, what we have done so far has averaged in the low 70’s. Talking to neighbours, yields average 60 to mid 70’s. So average to a little above for our area.
Soft White wheat, a more popular crop all the time in our area. Yields certainly are good. Ours averaged in the low 90’s, yield range in the area 80 to a 100, depended which cloud you were under.
Oat crops, not very many around. From what I have heard, good yields and bushel weight. Good yields on peas as well.
Pastures are drying up. We are supplementing on one pasture as it is almost done.
As I drive my combine I certainly enjoy my macdon flex header and my gps. I always tell my son, as I get older I need better tools to get the same work done.
This week had a mystery coolant leak. Turned out it was a coolant line that is part of the DEF system on my Case ih combine. The line tees off my main rad hose, goes up along side the Def line to the muffler, appears to heat the injector on the muffle. Just before that it tees off, makes a 180 goes under the motor to the Def tank, heats the Def tank and then back under the motor and into the side of the motor. Hard plastic, formed hose. Not easy to repair. Whoever thought a Def system was a positive or necessary addition to a combine is an idiot. So far the patch is holding.
And yes Old Cowzilla, I spend more on electronic repairs than mechanical.

Wow those are good yields.Half done in our area, we will finish wheat today, then canola if is its ready.Seems there is plenty of grain being harvested worldwide so cant see wheat price rising very much if any.Sold some for 6.86,terminal said they are buying lots.Looks like wet weekend,

Just getting started. Only thing done so far is very tough wheat.
I thought we were going to break every record this year, solid stands, big heads, lots of moisture until early August, nothing lost to floods, only very isolated hail. So far very disappointed. Very small kernels. Late season leaf disease, and hot dry finish really affected kernel fill.
Where we did fungicide and left a test strip, there was no visual difference in disease levels. Doing lighter ground so far, the one sample we did on heavy clay yielded much better, but still not up to expectations due to small seed.
Just checked the records, we haven't had measurable precipitation since very early August. Crops were so far behind from the cool wet summer, that I was grateful for the reprieve at the time. Went from one extreme to the other.

Canola still mostly green, and still no noteworthy frost here. Was cool and wet for so long earlier it just kept growing instead of flowering.

Barley was the last thing seeded, finally turning now. Looks very heavy. Haven't checked if it is filling without moisture.

First cut hay still going on, along with second cut in the few places the first cut was done soon enough. No shortage of feed.

Apparently a lot of frozen corn in the area.

Shutting down my pig shift its a doozer and yes manure is good for the land. I might hit my goal of 100 on a half.

Getting tired of the dust, it's been dry a long time. Even the vehicles in town are covered.
Have no theory as to higher yields on less rain. Numbers aren't record but higher end. Guess mud is a dud all around.

yields were not good most everywhere in my area. Kochia is brutal for most everybody, and we are ALL getting tired of getting screwed over for rain when we need it around here.

I'm going to maybe change my total production for Canola. Still.figuring the math out and yields in some areas stupid and some yields WTF its awful
