"Hysterically" speaking, we experience this same circus every year(with wheat) Its nothing but a mind fk too, sub $6.75 wheat makes $7.50 look good and $8.00 excellent.

I agree with what goalieguy said in a different thread, China's actions shouldn't surprise anyone, wash- rinse- repeat. Weber warned us about the anti-dumping "investigation" China was conducting.... their actions are all political, protectionist or bullsheet just to drive prices lower.

I feel for the guys who need to sell for cash flow, I guess you can always pre-sell some if you want to take the production and grade spread risk.

How bout them fertilizer and machinery prices though? And parts prices are ridiculous

2013 is par. Inflation rate is the Consumer Price Index which is a lot different then inflation on the farm these days.....2025 values are actually a little lower than the chart shows
My own chart so could be off a bit. I'm not all that smart

                Pea price 25 yrs ago $9.00 - 9.25, cash rent $25/ac

Pea price today $8, cash rent $125-150/ac.

I remember talking to a friend on the curling ice 25 yrs and we were asking each other if we were going to sell for $9.25 or wait for $9.50

I do realize peas aren’t paying the big rent price, neither is wheat but it’s all part of the rotation. Can’t grow lentils and canola every yr.

Then along came Canola. Markets shifted to west coast. Also Lentils were becoming popular in Durum area to compete.

Lentils weren't popular in 1974. Wasn't significant acres until the 90's.
