I would call this effort a win for democracy. It forces the voters to inform themselves at least a tiny amount. They now need to at least know the name of the candidate.
I'll take it one step further and make voters identify at least one policy position of the candidate they want to vote for. The next step could be forcing the voter to also list the cost (or savings as if that ever actually happens) of the policy.

As far as I can tell, the current system is simply name recognition. And colors. The system doesn't give the voters intelligence much credit.

Motives? Who are they really and what do they want.
At the bottom appears to be Fairvote.ca. Reading their platform I have more concerns than answers.
Proportional representation gives every fringe a seat and ensures perpetual minority governments.
It would ensure the NDP and Greens have seats across the country.
First Past may need fixing but this isn't it.
Fix the damn senate for a start.

When your leader can not win his seat and needs to pick the safest seat in Canada to get elected that should be a red flag to the party. Conservatives could easily chose an electable leader but they would rather lose than move their party away from the extreme right Trump style party.

Poilievre talked about reducing the size of the civil service. Certainly hurt him in the Ottawa-Carleton riding. Carney said nothing about cutting jobs in the civil service during the election and did very well in the election. Isn’t it ironic that in typical Liberal fashion that while nothing was said during the election, that his projected cuts to government operational spending could result in up to 60000 federal service jobs needing to be eliminated?! Poilievre’s honesty bit him in the ass.
