Friday Crop Report on a Thursday last week of june

Good morning rain hit this week some got it good and some didn’t get much.

Some got hail, some frost and the winds continue to give it to us.

We got an inch in two separate days 1/2 last Saturday—and half Sun.

Total 3 inches since May 1.

Gophers are a problem, the province has a rebate for up to half back through your RM.

Weird rains yesterday. A cloud developed by the town sat there for half an hour and gave 1/4 inch of hail.

    Crop report.

All seeding is just about done couple of quarters of green feed and it's a wrap.

Hay crop with be like last year but still not that bad. Newly seeded needed this weekend's rain but now coming.

Pastures are still doing ok but need more rain.

Hrs and Durum are at the flag stage or close. No heading yet. Rows are closing in. Leaf mass is like other years so early dryness might take away from top yield. Head size is determined at the three to four-leaf stage. Spraying is done and guys will apply fungicide wheat in our area.

Flax is up and growing nicely most sprayed.

Oats are up and growing nicely, not that many fields.

The meeting I must have missed is canary seed. We have lots of guys who seeded that crop this spring. Patchy and thinner but coming now.

Peas and lentils are the nicest I have ever seen but we are drier this year than other years and every rain since spring was a half a quarter or 3/4 no huge dumps. Disease spraying will begin next week.

Canola is all over the map from just about bolting to you can see rows. Patchy fields I have a few but it is filling in. Gophers like Canola. I don't think we will have massive cabbage before bolting the plant seems to just wanna grow. A massive yield might not be in the cards.

I think the early dry clipped this year's potential and if we don't get a rain or two in July all bets are off. Even theto guys who got 4 inches if you were dry the last 5 years that ran off not soak in. This crop is along way from the bin. But its a nice feeling now that it maybe can rain.

Getting bombarded yesterday fro chem companies and grain companies and agronomists that sclerorina could be huge problem this year so you should spray.

Prices dropped this week so far not convincing yet to spend more. Especially if the next two weeks go back to dry and windy.

One last thing Carney and Europe getting into bed together. 18 billion in trade vs couple hundred billion. Yea I would stick with the usa. Plus as a farmer we don't need the europeion at policies with no cash attached because that would be how Canada would use its farmers,

    I don't trust liberals.

Share your conditions and have a great day. Still have one quarter of Canola to spray liberty on but the last two days were awful windy.

It was quite the thunderstorm that rolled through yesterday. Half inch at the yard, came down over the course of an hour. We have a few hundred acres of Liberty left to spray, then onto the flax. Crops and pasture have responded well to the rains in the last week. The yeild has been set so we will see if the rain came in time or not and whether the rains keep coming.

Can someone explain why we have AAFC that can produce maps in full color to a high resolution and yet no politician knows how to read them.

We are really short for rainfall and the last few localized showers guys are putting on social media , isn't a true reflection of how dry it is.

The July heat is going to shrink this crop.

And yet every politician is on holiday for 12 weeks + , supposedly touring their respective ridings.

Despite getting some nice rains the wheat here still looks awful. Just went too long without rain. Canola not much better. Really slow growth though June has this crop looking not so good.

If we keep getting good rains, they will be OK. Lentils really liked the drier spring, the rest of the crops not so much. No bumper here.

            First thunderstorm last night.
Got about an inch with no real fuss.
Looks like more in the future.

Large part of our rain seems to come from Tstorms recent yrs.

Canola future here is still unclear.
            Some looks G to VG.
Some right across the road looks VP.
Most patchy with some probably embarrassing to the owner.
            Like WTF happened there?

Early seeded cereals not the best this yr.
Will be easier to tell when it is fully headed but will be more 40's than 70's.
Some less if the heads are short and don't fill exceptionally well.

It all looks better after rain.
At least we aren't a week away from total disaster.
Still largely depends on the showers lottery.

Sure looks like the heifers here are going to be grazing for more than a few more weeks now.

Several patchy canola fields in many areas , we have areas as well … everyone does . A few nice fields where canola missed the frosts and decent stubble held the moisture and plants from getting beat up
seeded into moisture then 4 weeks of wind , 20% humidity and no rain does that .
Could be one of those very rare years where canola could potentially outyield the wheat .
will see what happens in July , vast majority of us watched nice crops deteriorate big time by July 25-30th .
              a long ways to go

Getting audited for sustainable AG WITH RICHARDSON.

I plant more trees than any liberal I just put in where its needed.

Later crops look very good early not as good and lentils and peas are nice.

Sand ridge first wheat heads are coming out I'm a little surprised.
