Friday crop report first week of may.

I got cranky with the apprentices last night. They're making decisions. After 3 crop changes in 5 days and diagnosing a different tractor with hydraulic issues and two new monitors, I was full.
Everyone's more relaxed when I stay that way... A lifelong bad habit, getting revved up.
Change revs me up. Pissing around revs me up.
But staying away from the drill is a positive change for me.
(Unless you're fully supported, it's definitely not just sitting in a seat.)
And margins hopefully better too.

I've also noticed once you give up one decision, you lose connection to more. Don't ask me what's going on anymore lol.

Operator has his 4 yr old daughter in cab today. Right where she belongs.
I didn't have that opportunity. Or see it as one even if I did.

Peas are in and barley in so now working on wheat.
Hot dry wind blowing almost every day makes me think it might be a dry one?

Fire going across the river maybe 10 miles away.
To windy for choppers and bombers.
They have lots of work already.
Had a fire right beside the base at Prince Albert that they handled.
Might have blown out onto the farmland. and run out of fuel.

That's the best we can hope for here with this wind.

I must be about 40 miles south of that fire. Not much hope fighting a fire in today’s wind and heat! Wind is starting to change direction tonight.

Empty canola bags will be pilled on shop floor until it rains fire bans in place in most RMS now. Looks like everybodys cows will be eating dry hay for a while yet pastures slow to green.
