The only worse words out of the partsman's mouth than backordered is discontinued. Next step after giving up at the stealerships is alway calling the wreckers. Problem is many of them sent their entire inventory off to the smelter when they were paying 400 a ton for scrap metal. Being able to fabricate and fix helps, but best to stay up on maintenance and pray it don't break. As interest rates and inflation put the supply chain out of business parts availability isnt going to get better.

I thought with all the sprayers that ran Auburn, that there should be lots of availability. Not so. Last Case Sprayer that had an Auburn planetary, the 3185. And there is different gear ratios in the planetaries depending on what it was on, so parts are not interchangeable. As for turbos, the Holset turbo I needed, no one ever sold one before. So they don’t stock anything that has never been sold. Same story at every Color of dealer and includes their warehouses. I hear this all the time.
