Besides barley, what crops could be planted so late and still be harvested early?

Or does it come down to being in a area with high CHU's
The 1997 the Red River crested in Morris MB in late April, so it started to recede earlier than this year's flood as it is cresting in Morris Mb. today.

Unfortunately heavy rain today again in most of southern Manitoba and S.E. Sask.

In 1997 after the Red River receded it immediately turned hot and dry so there was no delays after the Red River drained. Heat Unit in most of Southern Manitoba are high so that definitely helped.

This year's flood in the Red River Valley is no where near the flood of 1997 and is being compared to the flood of 2009. So if the weather would smarten up sowing would happen in a hurry, so hopefully it does.

As for crops planted I can't recall exactly if there were major changes.
