Ottawa Police Ban lawful protest ...

Ottawa Police Ban lawful protest in seat of Canadian democracy
    POSTED ON: FEBRUARY 18, 2022
OTTAWA: The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms sent a cease and desist demand letter to Steve Bell, Interim Police Chief Ottawa Police Service on February 17, 2022, after hearing his warning that Canadians should not come to Ottawa to protest.

At a press conference earlier today, Interim Chief Bell said, “The secured area includes almost 100 checkpoints that will have police presence to ensure that those seeking entry to that secure area for a unlawful reason, such as joining a protest, cannot enter the downtown core.”

"The Charter ensures that Canadians are free to peacefully assemble, to express their ideas, to gather to discuss them and communicate them widely to other people, including vigorous political dissent. These activities are basic forms of individual liberty. They are essential to the basic functioning of a democratic society like Canada. In Canada, people are free to discuss matters of public policy, to protest and to criticize governments.

Keith Wilson, Q.C., external lead counsel for the Freedom Convoy 2022 states, “The Interim Police Chief’s improper attempts to scare Canadians from exercising their Charter rights is disturbing.” Mr. Wilson adds, “The police misconduct here is particularly egregious given the clear wording of the Emergency Proclamation confirming Canadians rights to attend in downtown to protest.”

“It is another dark day for Canada and the once-famed Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I am concerned for the future of our country. I am concerned for the citizens of Canada. The government overreach together with the escalated, unlawful and unnecessary police enforcement is something that should concern every Canadian,” says Justice Centre Staff Lawyer Eva Chipiuk."

We are a Canadian legal advocacy organization that defends citizens’ fundamental freedoms under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, through pro bono legal representation and through educating Canadians about the free society.

Our MP Damien had to go through at least 10 police check points to get to the Hill on Friday... and many to get to the West Block to do 'House Duty' on Saturday in the EMA sitting in Canada's Parliament.

    This is crazy....

If you were really concerned you would converse with the people who occupied Ottawa and urge them to protest peacefully. Hollow words of Freedom mean little if others freedom is trampled. TFJU strike again.

If you read the 'Charter of Rights and Freedoms'... demonstrations are allowed on any public property.

Your insults and intimidation only make the resolve and revulsion to your Arrogance... even more potent. Your disrespect for the Laws of Canada...and abuse of Canadians... are duly noted

Obvious egregious acts by non-law enforcers... running down legally protesting Canadians... is the type of activity that incites violence... which you Aggie... have been practicing for a very long time.

Eventually someone, wink wink, will pull a trigger, and all rifles will be taken from Canadians. Ranchers will be allowed to keep a .22 cal with a yearly ammunition allowance of 9 rounds.

                It will then be complete.

The occupation was ended with relatively few incidents of violence. Protestors that were assaulting police and grabbing weapons were met with force. Mounted police are very effective at moving and dispersing crowds.

In many protests in other countries the water cannons, tear gas, pepper spray and billy clubs get used a whole lot more that they were in Ottawa.

It's unfortunate that some protestors ignored the 2 days of notices that they were part of an illegal occupation and would be arrested if they didn't leave.

Just like bringing kids to an occupation as a human shield, someone assisted an elderly woman in a walker to be part of a illegal occupation? What kind of people put children and the elderly in harms way?

                          Hopefully they are okay.

The only illegal “occupation “ was that of the law enforcement egregiously trampling the protestors and breaches of the Charter Rights and Freedoms who were legally protesting on public property on Parliament Hill.

CC… you can chant deceptively till the end of time…

you will never convince freedom loving legally protesting Canadians… from sea to sea to sea…to accept your dreams of PM Trudeau’s woke, lame dictatorship…to voluntarily turn Canadians into subservient Chinese drones.

Peace be with your family… your low grade fascist logic …must to be difficult to tolerate … they have my sympathy.

                            Cheers
