Are others really sick of the "fossil fuel" term?

They are nothing to do with actual "fossils" of any kind. I will never use that term.

Other end of the spectrum here. I really feel for the cows when it’s like this. Had to block the radiator with empty salt bags and put the jumper hose in an SCV to keep the oil warmer on the chore tractor. Always fun to open up waterers when we move corn fields in this weather too.

The corn in this field is short, broken down, and now has lots of snow. Only getting 1/3 of the head days compared to last year. In the background is power plant humming along on coal and gas. At least there’s not much wind which is nice for a change.

Indeed... 100°f+ is memorable here, and the highest I've seen personally is 112°, which would be 44.5°c. I've also seen as cool as -44°c. Nearly 90°c of swing is mind boggling from one season to another.

That said, theres just enough snow to contemplate making piles, and certainly enough cold to make one despise the outdoors.

This place must have looked like eden when my great grandfather decided to drag his plow and erect a homestead. Damned hard terrain to earn a living!

If Australia can have a vibrant ag sector with those temps, then a 1.5deg increase in temps from climate change is going to be a boom for NA.

Does the Aussie media freak out when it hits 40deg and call for the end of the world like our paid shills do?

How come I never hear about mass heat deaths from Australia or the ME?

Because according to Chuck's sources, us farmers are all too dumb to ever adapt. We will just keep doing the same thing no matter what the weather throws at us. There are no other crops or varieties adapted for warmer, or drier, or wetter or colder, and never will be. Seeding and harvest dates are fixed in stone and can't be moved. The areas suitable for agriculture can never expand or shift.

What separates humans from animals is our ability to adapt quickly by using our highly active frontal cortex. Granted humans have pissed in their porridge enough times but overall we keep living as a whole. That said I really fear for human civilization as a whole at this point because no matter your political religious or state of general being, everything appears as if everyone and everything is just crazy and crumbling. Our resident leftist climate alarmists to our ultra right conspiracy theorists illustrate this so well. It is quite funny when one particular individual took a break possibly for a winter solstice celebration or a trip to an education camp, this forum was tame and enjoyable with pertinent discussion on both sides of a topic. With that one individual back it is going to hell again. For the love of humanity and good discussion please admin clip the chickens wings.

My theory is that he got tired of being called a hypocrite, so he finally got the cable and has now gone fully solar. The three hours per day of pitiful output from the panels just doesn't go very far. That's why we hear so little from him lately, when choosing between heat and powering the computer and router to be an internet troll. He may have discovered which is more important in December in Saskatchewan. Besides, it's hard to type in the dark with mittens on.
So, just like clockwork about the time the sun comes back and rest of us get busy in the fields this spring, he will be back to posting with a vengeance.
