Other end of the spectrum here. I really feel for the cows when it’s like this. Had to block the radiator with empty salt bags and put the jumper hose in an SCV to keep the oil warmer on the chore tractor. Always fun to open up waterers when we move corn fields in this weather too.
The corn in this field is short, broken down, and now has lots of snow. Only getting 1/3 of the head days compared to last year. In the background is power plant humming along on coal and gas. At least there’s not much wind which is nice for a change.
Hard to imagine that we’re on the same planet at times Landdownunder ðŸ€

That said, theres just enough snow to contemplate making piles, and certainly enough cold to make one despise the outdoors.
This place must have looked like eden when my great grandfather decided to drag his plow and erect a homestead. Damned hard terrain to earn a living!

If Australia can have a vibrant ag sector with those temps, then a 1.5deg increase in temps from climate change is going to be a boom for NA.
Does the Aussie media freak out when it hits 40deg and call for the end of the world like our paid shills do?
How come I never hear about mass heat deaths from Australia or the ME?

Seeding and harvest dates are fixed in stone and can't be moved. The areas suitable for agriculture can never expand or shift.

My theory is that he got tired of being called a hypocrite, so he finally got the cable and has now gone fully solar. The three hours per day of pitiful output from the panels just doesn't go very far. That's why we hear so little from him lately, when choosing between heat and powering the computer and router to be an internet troll. He may have discovered which is more important in December in Saskatchewan. Besides, it's hard to type in the dark with mittens on.
So, just like clockwork about the time the sun comes back and rest of us get busy in the fields this spring, he will be back to posting with a vengeance.
