You both need to quit quarantine drinking. You're talking stupid shit. Next you'll be voting Liberal.

Go follow him on FB. Then you can bask in his socialist wisdom. Maybe he'll send you an NFU hat.

I use my initials, and really dont care if anyone knows who I am, would stand behind anything I've posted and generally have been non-confrontational. I think it may be an overall better conversation with real names. I do value and respect the guys that have been "all in" like Errol, using his real name, while also operating a business in the ag field. (Others too, just off the top of my head)
GDR, I always appreciate what you have to say when you post. Always polite, informed and considerate, so I value you weighing in here.

But back to my original question, does that right extend to public figures?

If your MP joined Agriville(or any other social media, with somewhat wider appeal) during an election campaign under a false identity, to campaign for him/herself, and sling mud at the competitors, spreading lies, then deny their true identity when confronted, how would the voters respond? To me, that isn't the type of ethics and morals I expect in an elected official. This is really no different, this poster has been using this as a pulpit to preach the gospel of the CWB, while denigrating his opponents while denying his actual identity.

Because chuck isn’t always right according to my beliefs but he certainly isn’t always wrong. have to laugh at some who go so far as to block a posters posts. Lmao lmao are you really that sensitive about reading something or is it just a little too much work to scroll down. Lmao.

We d be a complete shit hole place if things were left to the extremists of both sides. That is something I know is a fact.
Not at least listening to the other side is pretty dumb and dangerous if we all did it.
Good post Big Wheel. I go out of my way to like, and/or respond positively when a poster I typically spar with says something I agree with. I've done so for Chuck quite often. Even in the old thread where Austranada is calling for me to be removed, I see that I made a post acknowledging Chucks really good and original post back in December.

              I have no posters blocked.

I have repeatedly defended the right to free speech of any other posters, when the mob mentality here wants them banned. Differing opinions is what makes it an interesting discussion forum. Some are just better than others at disagreeing respectfully, and some are only here to preach their own ideology, and no feedback is permitted.

It's amazing what that organ between your ears can do....

I can choose to read a long cut and paste or not ....I can engage in a discussion or not....

But what I like most is to have both sides presented and maybe my opinion changes ....

Which is really the whole point of free speech...

To compromise or see others points that haven't been thought of or experiences some haven't witnessed...

And for me to admit the errors of some of my thoughts....once the discussion ends...

i don't know BW , i know who you are ,i respect your privacy, I'm pretty sure you know who i am , we disagree and thats fine and normal , but neither of us has tunnel vision . we don't beat the same drum, over and over and over. and sometimes i am sure we change each others mind . i couldn't care less who knows who i am , i have said before , anyone can PM me and we can go from there. many have and have several people i text regularly . its nice to have instant feedback from the other corner of the province . the key here is to have a bit of an open mind , the one we are discussing has none. when it becomes a job instead of a forum , well thats what separates it for me

I ll be the first to admit I haven't always replied to discussions in a way that I ve felt good about after, and even in those disagreements I don't hate anyone even though strongly disagree, sometimes feel attacked or what ever. In the end there is nothing better than different opinions some are educating some are useless some are hilarious and some ridiculous no point thinking further about. In the end for some reason still feel some sort of a positive connection to a fellow farmer even if on the opposite end of ideas with that person because I know every one of us has difficult things to deal with in this racket.

There is only one reason in my mind for any kind of anonymity, and that would be to present something that you have good reason to believe that will be so badly received that you fear actual physical retribution. If you expect only oral or written denunciation, or you just want to trash someone, be a man and put your name on it.... I have my name on my posts partly because it makes me consider carefully what I write. I think the quality of posts would improve if more posters would not post anything they wouldn't say to their neighbor.

Or if you are a public figure and know that the disrespectful way you use the public forum is not becoming of someone holding public office?

New Ag Talk made it policy that if you want to post on their politics forum, you have to list your real name. I don't know if it has improved the discourse, I don't follow very often.

If what you post is true, there should be no problem, just don’t be defaming people with lies. I am no lawyer, but this I believe.

But, isn't denying the fact that one is, or has been an elected official a lie?

That is what I thought, but wanted to ask others opinions. The word public does tend to give away the answer.
But in the era of Antifa covering their faces, natives doing the same, while out in public, apparently because they are too ashamed to have their identifies know because of their reprehensible behavior, but I may be out of touch.
