That's a false conclusion - those maps have looked like that for most of the last 50 years.
Interesting that the 4th generation rancher NDP candidate in Livingston-Macleod garnered over 21% of the votes cast despite coming second in that constituency.

Separation is great in the coffeeshop but in reality it always demands a period of adjustment which is usually not a period of prosperity. Oil and grain prices wouldn't budge a penny because Alberta separated and the Americans would swoop in to pick the carcass clean.
WTF would be wrong with the east treating us like human beings and the cash cow that we are ????

Its a step process. Referendum on equalization first set the stage for separation. More than 70% would support a referendum on equalization and if the feds ignore it, then the cause for separation will tick over 50% easy. In fact people will actually move to Ab if they hear they are separating so the numbers will go up. The snowflakes can move out.

Which is a bit of an irony - given the current federal transfers were approved by the Harper Government which Kenney was part of. Couldn't afford to lose the QC votes federally then and now they play to the other side to garner votes provincially in AB. Typical politicians only concerned about their own careers.

The interesting thing with all socialist pundits when interviewed after this landslide they believe zero mistakes that lead to their demise.

If 21% in a rural area is a victory for them they might want to change their policies.

The interesting thing about changing the equalization formula is that it is like changing the constitution. You need a minimum of 7 provinces and 50% of the population to make changes which means some of those on the receiving end of the formula need to agree to the change for it to happen. It's not under the PM's discretion to get it done. So that is why any changes have been essentially window dressing.
