Above normal gets talked and talked about but below normal dead silence.

This is exactly why they changed the term global warming to climate change..... now you simply can’t deny any weather anomaly

The only place I read of one temperature extreme being talked about endlessly while the other is ignored is here on Agriville.

Nobody changed the term global warming to climate change the two expressions refer to two different things and have been in use as such by scientists for decades. Global warming refers to the long-term trend of a rising average global temperature. Climate change refers to the changes in the global climate which result from the increasing average global temperature. Both of which are indisputable.

Have to admit exact same happens here. Only hear of above average temps never below and opposite with rain only hear of below average not often the above average rains.

Global warming is utter bullshit. Do you honestly think the additional 80ppm C02 in the atmosphere in the last 150 years has any measureable impact on our weather? Even if we had added 9500ppm C02 humans would survive just fine. Actually Earth would thrive.

Which is the most noteworthy or sensational to the general population?

                    a. Up to 90 people died inside a couple of weeks in one province due to a heatwave.
                    b. Agricultural harvest has been delayed in parts of the prairies due to unseasonably cool weather.

Reporting the news, nothing to do with a "climate change agenda".

The blocking pattern we are in with the jet stream stuck far below us on the prairies is one of the scenarios that climate scientists have been observing as the temperature differential between the arctic and mid latitudes declines as the arctic warms faster than other parts of the world.

Global atmospheric blocking trends and climate change

A 2012 study identifies an eastward shift of blocking events over the North Atlantic (fewer cases of blocking over Greenland and more frequent blocking over the eastern North Atlantic) and the North Pacific.[2][7]
A 2013 study finds an increase in blocking duration year-round over the Northern Hemisphere since about 1990.[8]
An earlier study, from 2008, found a decrease in the overall frequency of blocking events in the Southern Hemisphere, but an increase in the intensity of events.[9]

Global studies attribute blocking trends to climate change

(Mann et al. 2017) show that an unusual, undulating, and persistent jet stream pattern, which has been associated with many of the most extreme, persistent weather events in recent years, including the 2003 European heatwave, the 2010 Moscow wildfires, the 2011 Texas and Oklahoma drought, and the 2016 Alberts wildfires, is becoming more common because of human-caused climate change, and in particular, because of amplified Arctic warming.[10][11]
