I applaud the US in supporting their farmers. I had a long debate recently with a prominent business person and they were sure that the hospitality (restaurants/ hotels) are more
Important to the economy than agriculture.

It is so obvious to me, that ag and ag manufacturing so much beats out consumption type industries like hospitality that it is not even a contest. Funny how he didn’t see it.

In the last decade grain has become a very worldwide market. We have foolishly (or not) shared our technological enhancements with many developing countries (usually subsidized by our own Canadian govt) and now countries like
Russia, ukraine, India and Argentina are major grain producers (and increasing). In our world of heavy govt regulation and massive input costs we simply cant compete.

Someone I know recently bought a beautiful farm
In the Ukraine for $400 per acre...sounds like
I better brush the dust off my perogy recipes! Home to mother Russia!!!

I do think that farmers in Canada are too polite
To raise a stink. We should all be banging on JT’s door asking him about his response to India pulse tariffs!

Looks like the USA and EU are working towards tariff free trade. EU was worried due to the threat of tariffs on auto manufacturing.
Interesting to see how our government responds to potential auto tariffs.

Was a bit today on our rural radio about usa tariffs subsidies etc etc grass might like to chip in but from a aussie perspective the biggest threat according to the "expert commentator" was actually beef and lamb prices.

There will be a excess of 975,000 metric tonne of pork in the usa presuming it means that its pork that was destined for china and aint no more because china put retalitory tarriffs on.

Know somehow they seem to a fair % of this pork will actually end up in oz some free trade arrangement.

Guess hes thinking that australians will eat cheap pork in preference to expnsive lamb and beef, personally i dont agree but he said consumers want cheap meat and chicken and pork it is at the moment.

A side of beef from bulk butcher is $8 to 12 per kilo thats your mince sausages burgers steaks roasts osso bucco dog bones the whole kit and kabootle for that price, a side of lamb the same is $16.50 to 20 again in bulk.

Consumers pay about at least double, my auntie lives in the big smoke loves her lamb and steak but she says to im a poor old pensioner in her 85th year i just cant afford a steak or lamb chops so she buys chicken pork or beef mince, so gives you a jolt when you see the "other side of meat prices"

sorry got a bit off track.

but do you hear this at all grass i beleive you sell direct
