but , but, but , the scientists told us 20-30 years ago we would be burning up and oceans would rise 10 feet ??? ................. please understand our scepticism . acid rain was also gonna kill us and all the water , wtf ??? I don't understand ? these were credible scientists ? same looney tunes that are spewing horseshit now , but they are a lot richer now .

That is a very important point, and I devoted a thread to the very same thing in a previous discussion with dml. At some point the future is now. The deadlines for many dire predictions have already come and went. When confronted with the challenge of providing real time evidence of the catasatrophic effects of climate change, all you get in return is more dire predictions about what will happen in another 20 or 30 or 100 years.

Meanwhile, yields continue to increase, populations continue to grow, live longer and healthier, weather events and associated costs (accounting for inflation and population growth)continue to moderate, sea level communities continue to thrive. There is a good news story in here somewhere, but instead all we hear is how bad it is going to be, just wait, you'll see.

This entire debate could be settled with a wager. Pick a date into the future, a set of quantifiable parameters, and an agreed method of measurement, let each side put forth their best estimate of those conditions. If the alarmists are right, then carry on fighting against CO2, if the deniers are closer, then shut down the entire warming industry and get on with solving the real sustainability issues we face.

So Burnt are you saying there has been no acid rain, air pollution or problems with air and water and all the scientists who have raised these issues are wrong! LMAO. So the brown smog covering much of urban ontario is good for you? Haha Why don't you just put your mouth over a tail pipe then?

And who said the oceans were going to rise 10 feet in the last 30 years? I think you may be confused about the projected time periods for ocean rise. It is already happening and cities like Miami are already experiencing flooding, making plans and spending money on mitigation.

You guys go from another ice age is coming, global warming is good for us, nothing bad is going to happen don't worry, its a socialist plot and massive transfer of wealth put up by a UN conspiracy etc etc.

Nobody takes you guys seriously. Name one government in Canada who's official position is global warming science is wrong and there is nothing to worry about? Good luck because nobody in government will say that. In fact all but one Conservative MP voted in favour of supporting the Paris accord.

You guys are politically so isolated and alone on the fringe with your climate change denial, conspiratorial views.

As i said before It is pretty much a waste of time trying to discuss it with you.

Actually, that was CaseIH, not Burnt.
The causes you list are very noble, and would go a lot further to improving our health, lifestyles, and sustainability that waging war on CO2. Imagine how much good could have been done with the money wasted on fighting CO2.

Flying over South of Minot, lots of snow, pure winter in an area that usually seeds a month before us. Nearer to Minot very little snow, but cold as all get out.

Sea Level rise 10-20 cm over the last 100 years. Land subsidence in Miami Beach 16-24 cm in the last 80 years. Double Whammy

No one wants to hear your moronic opinion every day. You evidently lack the mental ability to think logically for yourself and have fallen prey to the vultures - good-bye-adios

CaseIH or Burnt sorry for the error. In the end it doesn't matter you both read from the same playbook.

Here is a question for all the carbon tax alarmists who believe that a carbon tax is going to kill the economy even though governments willing, it can be recycled back to consumers through other tax cuts.

So oil prices are rising and fuel prices are rising. OPEC is content to ratchet them back up to $100 per barrel.

So if a carbon tax increases the price of fuel and OPEC increases the price of fuel, won't the OPEC oil price increase kill the economy just like a carbon tax?

                        If not why not?

Keep in mind most Canadians are consumers not producers or oil workers and the benefits of higher oil prices are not shared equally and profits are siphoned off by executives, shareholders.

Is this not a transfer of wealth from consumers to producers?

Enjoy your higher fuel prices this spring courtesy of OPEC!

i know this is hard for some , carbon tax is added on top . it is added onto whatever the fuel price is . if its a buck a liter instead of 70 cents , its that much more . you see , its added on top of WHATEVER the fuel price is . we can't control the oil co's without govt's help , but we can get rid of these shysters, if we all work together and get the truth out there . AND A CARBON TAX WILL ACCLOMPLISH SFA
ANYONE THAT THINKS 100% OF CARBON TAX IS COMING BACK TO PROVINCES IS MENTALLY DEFICIENT ??
75% WILL BE SIPHONED OFF IN KEEBEK, OR LIBERAL LAND FOR ADMIN, AND TO CREATE FEDERAL LIBERAL FRIENDS JOBS . WAKE UP FFS

Ya chucky a tax makes it more expensive for the oil industry to operate. Infact virtually every business will be negatively affected. Except home security companies. Its a double whammy for the middle class. Not only do jobs dry up but consumer costs will rise substantially. More end up on social assistance and welfare. More end up homeless and yes crime rises as a result. Stagflation is already a reality but you guys really want it to accelerate. Its not going to be pretty.

Be careful what you wish far!

What the socialists fail to understand about a carbon tax vs oil price increase, is that the oil Price increase applies equally to all of our competitors, While the carbon tax applies only to us and not our competitors. Most capital is mobile and will go to where It is taxed the least. If the carbon tax applied equally around the globe then I am all for it. But such basic laws of economics are lost on socialists , Who can't fathom that wealth redistribution Only serves to shrink the amount of wealth left to redistribute. But it sure looks good on paper.
