Because we used genetic engineering to give glyphosate and liberty tolerance instead of something good... Like enhanced nutrition, n fixation, disease tolerance.

Over use of gly is causing a host of problems. Including super weeds.

Short term profit Trump's long term gain.

Only good thing to come from GE is the bT trait.

Absolute BS. Ever hear of golden rice? The most lobbied against food product ever. Because if it is successful, you have to admit everything is.

Or maybe you never heard of insulin? Also a product of GE. But lets keep this industry hiding in the dark and not make a point of pushing back against the tide of lies.

You can't let the lie die. Keep it going forever no matter how many children go blind. Thanks for that.

Fortunately for the organic industry, conventional ag really doesn't care or want to care. We'll just keep asking why, do some more surveys, look busy and hope things will be ok.

If that were the first thing we developed we wouldn't have this issue. Instead we developed chem resistance....

Your response makes no sense. This has nothing to do with Monsanto, ridiculous

          Why lobby against Golden Rice?

So nothing it is. Just don't be surprised when the pieces keep getting chopped off.

Golden rice is fake news. It was biotechs last ditch effort to pursaude consumers into accepting ge commodities. It flopped big time.

Interesting to read the comments on that article that cal it for what it is, an outright lie and misleading.

The real story, note who is for, note who is against. There will always be proponents and opponents with a monetary agenda.

Nevertheless, time passed without much headlining news from the Golden Rice Project, until June 2016, when 110 Laureates (out of the living 296 Nobel Laureates) among 5591 scientists and citizens signed a letter against Greenpeace’s opposition to genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and in support of GMOs. Sir Richard Roberts, winner of the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine, led the letter campaign entitled “Laureates Letter Supporting Precision Agriculture (GMOs).” The letter addressed Greenpeace’s opposition to biotechnological innovations in agriculture, and asks for reexamination their stance as the scientists believe them to misunderstand the risks, benefits, and impacts that GMOs could have, especially in developing countries. This letter specifically addressed Golden Rice, and the potential benefits it could have if fully employed in developing countries. The letter stated, “We call upon Greenpeace to cease and desist in its campaign against Golden Rice specifically, and crops and foods improved through biotechnology in general.”

Once again the point is, we do nothing to promote the benefits - just hope it will be ok.
