Bigzee if you were on a Norwegian cruise last week out of New York then perhaps our paths crossed. The snow basically disappeared west of Edmonton and now it's mud in the yard and feeding cows is fun since the silage wagon is sinking in badly beside the feed boxes. Feels more like April which is a good thing since there's still half of last years combining to do yet. Planning to seed the same rotation as usual except switching all the wheat to Pastuer (general purpose) since it's awnless. That way it can get grazed by the cows which would have been handy last fall.

Seeding not even on my radar! Maybe some grass in some spots otherwise why!

It's a piss poor price year and what If most have Shit yields! The party can't last forever

Australian planting intentions apparently more canola more lentils chickpeas less peas less malt and feed barley wheat around the same.

Those with low rainfall are dictated by crop type not markets.

Some others are dropping off less productive acres and running livestock sheepmeat and wool prices have been sneaking constantly up for last 4 years and show no sign of abating less productive areas meaning some guys say instead of 6000 acres crop may put aside 400 for livestock so not a huge shift.

Long term weather for aust is not exactly inspiring dry spring on the cards

Cereals in the tank and still dropping. Canola and flax and pulses will have to do for 2017

Cashing in, renting land out except 299 acres. Putting quarter into Corp with high price to get tax free money out and subdividing house and Quonset to cash in on tax free money before panzine Trudeau take everything away, the 299 acres will be first time beans locked in at 11:70 for 26 bu an acre, then wheat for two years and maybe retire, screw the cwb .

The whole week I never ran into another farmer at all. Lots of people told me they had never talked to a farmer before and explaining that I don't milk my beef cattle was a hard concept to grasp. Hope you enjoyed your game, New York was cool to see but couldn't imagine living there.
Mallee got me thinking that actually we underseeded a bunch of alfalfa last year so that's increasing the perennial portion of our rotation. More cows need more grass.

Try growing roundup ready canola. I've taken on some filthy land and used two apps of round up and got a decent crop. Munch better than taking a loss for two years
