    Seeding 2017

With this nice weather the past week it has us dreaming of seeding. Anyone doing anything hugely different than last year?

I guess if everyone continues to chase
Monster yields because that's where the $$$ is, then I guess we better keep up with the jones or the jones might buy us out.

I was on a cruise last wk now in NY till Fri, been hearing snow is gone back home. Told the wife I have to get home get the drills ready. Anything of an excuse to leave!! LOL
Big talk is durum and red lentil acres crashing. Reds I can see that happening with such depressing prices compared to the others. Will be surprised if durum goes down as hard as some analyst think. Acres will still be high, some will "defy the odds", and plant lots. There's no money in wht, but there's no money in feed durum. I grow a lot of durum and have lower fuzz levels then most, but am considering seeding some hard red to spread out the risk.

Best thing for durum right now, is to show no signs of life until after seeding.

Daylate.......I don't know if a durum price increase can overshadow the ****ing grade beating Producers are enduring from the 2016 crop. Alot of risk has developed trying to grow decent quality durum....it used to tough enough but now its insane. I bet even the traditional durum areas are feeling like they're banging their head against the wall. If the pathogen is present and the host is risked being grown you already put two of the three sides of the disease triangle in place.....good luck!
