    infrastructure

Word has it that the rail line between hodgeville and moose jaw is being torn up.

Province says they can't tell a private company what to do. And it's a federal issue.

Feds say they can't tell a private company what to do either.

    Here is the big BUT.

But the private company railways can tell the province indirectly that you have to build highway infrastructure as we just downloaded a 100 plus million cost to you and your taxpayers.

It would have been cheaper to buy the line and elevator, find an operator build hodgeville to 112 car spot and use the rail line than rebuild highways.

Or build another 30kms of track into swift current and twin the southern route.

Obviously no one did the costing on this.

Nothing good comes of ripping up rail line. It's price tag is too high.

Why does no one in any level of government get it yet and are more inclined to push the responsibility to another of government?

Hard to believe and when you look at the state of the highways is Sask its a ****ing shame no one has the foresight or even so blind that they don't have the 20/20 hindsight to see what rail abandonment and elevator consolidation has done to our highways. Wake up. Let a shortline operate on it.

So I called the infrastructure people and they like to tell you all the hard work they have done on analyzing this. They should know better.

Not just from a logistical point but be outraged as a taxpayer.

The rail line is worthless if it's abandoned and the other shocker is they are going to dynamite a 10000 tonne concrete rumour has it.

So the value of the elevator and line can't be worth more than 1 million.

Highways - there is no amount.

A more and more of this ship happens, I understand why people feel they would lean left and have governments build railways...or processing plants, etc.
If they could only handle the management part, think I would too.....

The left will build and the conservatives seem to buckle and give it away for personal gain.

Mackay should be only a few days away from his new appointment.

If Gov will NOT tell business wtf to do, as I said when elevators were being knocked over and burned, they should have put a cost of highways onto the concretes. That would have made them ALL nonviable, and old would have been cost effective. Same with rail, pull up a line but add the cost of highway replacement to the RR's. That would KILL their regressive plans.

Us dumb farmers could do the study on a piece of paper. Beauracrats write reports and can't think.

Stewart wants to have input on farmland. He won't meet with farmers but will meet with banks and other industry players . I interesting how they become detached from those that vote for them.

                  Same with this infrastructure issue.

This government has forgotten where their votes come from. IMO

A sad ending for sure. Why doesn't someone buy the elevator for a buck a bushel.
Hodgeville was the last elevator on a dead end branchline.
                      Closed in 2011.

                      Darn shame.

The swine that run this province of Ontario are anything but "conservatives"
and they just got done selling a 51% share of Ontario Hydro to the private sector.

                        Why?

Because the swine needed to come up with money to pay back the billions of dollars that they have wasted in buying elections, setting up "green energy" and buying off the police and teachers unions.

Oh yes, and I just read in the Nat. PO. this evening that Notley is "looking to Ontario" to learn about replacing coal-fired plants with 'green energy" - solar and wind power.

Welcome to rapid destitution under a Marxist government.

Furthermore, one Liberal party hack whose name I cannot remember stands to collect $450,000,000 for his own pocket once all the wind turbines are up and running. Half a billion bucks.

And you want to pin blame on the conservatives?

Theyre blowing that elevator in picture?
Insane. Sometimes to say we get the leadership we deserve overlooks the fact that regardles of party, once in theyre stunned.
If that tubine vs coal/gas fired electricity fantasy grows legs in Alberta we are truly fkd. Might as well put that hypocrite Suzuki in power and leave the bills to somebody else.

Gardner dam terminal sits at the end of a branchline with a 112 car spot.

Hodgeville would be just as efficient.
