May I ask, where are you? Do you often get heavier canola crops? Did anyone spray, and did it help??

We have sclerotiinia as well some pioneer 45h31
worse than 5440. Have never seen it before in
this area no matter if wet or not. Last rain of any
amount was june 21st and infection risk factors
were fairly low at flowering (50% bloom july 1st).
What percent of infection would u call that in the
        pics??

I am SE of Regina. Ive had better canola crops but this specialty oil canola never seems to be the top genetics. Last year it was way too wet and it sucked a bit. This year was still wet but not as bad as last year. This 1/2 section--one quarter had yellow mustard on it in 07 and the other in 08(quit growing it because of cleavers moving in). We always had a bit(sclerotinia) in the low spots on other fields on our farm but this is bizarre- even up the sides of the hills. I DO NOT push canola rotations real hard like some people. It had 205 lbs. of 37-0-0-7.8 and 35 lbs. of 11-51. The nitrogen source was 1/2 ESN. What a lesson this has turned out to be!!!

Blackpowder; Very few people sprayed here, yet mine seems worse than my most. One guy that did spray-his looks pretty bloody healthy.

JD: I would have to do a stem count to determine %. It is hard to look at.

This is simply poor management on my part. We've had 10 inches of rain since the last week of April and it has been pretty warm and very humid, soaked wet most mornings. (Peas are sick(there will be a black cloud following the combine this fall) and lentils(sprayed once with Headline) are showing some symptoms too.

Are you sure that is not just a little heat stress? And actually does not look all that bad.

Were those crows just flying by or coming out of
the crop? If they flew up out of the crop you might
want to walk out there and see whats going on in
                that spot, could be Bertha.

No sewen they were blackbirds and I really don't think there is much to salvage at this point. I missed the boat with the fungicide. Would you still go into a crop looking like this if there were berthas?

That is still a 40 bushel crop in my opinion.
