Stuff is looking pretty good (to my eastern-trained eye)! I hope the weather stays cooperative to the finish line. We need a few good crops somewhere around the globe!

Unity looks good until you get a little bit of rain and wind. It will look similar to that wheat just west of St.Gregor on Hwy 5.

          Klause,

Hope you get the season to finish these nice looking crops off!

          Cheers!

                They're not THAT late? :P

They're about the same as everyone else's last
seeded stuff. Seeded last week of May, Barley was
                first week of June.

Those pics are roughly a week old... actually, 10
                days now.

Looks fine. I am sure it's all fully headed like ours by now.
Unless a difference in density, we have 14-16 spikelets, quite thick, Goodeve seeded at 105Lbs/ acre. What was your rate?
                  Any lodging?

This would be a great time to fill the bins with
yield and quality. After what the province
experienced with the flooding the last couple of
years. Fingers crossed for a big finale- getting
                    close to Aug 1.

                        SF3,

If the pics are July 11... that is altogether different than July 21.

Hope springs eternal... that we can get this crop off in good shape!

Many folks need a good crop... to give us a buffer to endure what may come!

Those crops are hardly late. Maybe for
typically dry areas they are, but for us
out east here, they are near schedule.
As well, if you want to see some really
late crops, drive from saskatoon to
hanna alberta. Last wed. there were LOTS
of non-headed wheat crops. THAT is
late... Must have been seeded past the
                          crop insurance deadlines...

It is not rare to have canola bloom well
into august out here. Now, whether it
makes it is the question. But with red
river valley moisture, and alert NWT
heat units, crops take longer to mature.

The good thing is that we finally have
had some warm conditions, and the crop
                          is scooting along.
