Mallee, it depends so much on WHERE you
farm here. Some areas think wet is 12
inches during the growing season, some
think that is very dry. Some areas that
are consistently wet, hope for a bit
less rain, while some that are
consistently dryer, hope to heck they
get a rain!
I have never seeded and been concerned
about dryness. I have usually been
concerned whether or not I get stuck. I
have never worried that "we need a rain
soon, its getting dry". With regards to
weeds and seeding, where I am from,
spring comes later usually. By the time
we are able to move, many other areas
are done. But we spray most everything
before seeding or shortly after. Seeding
here usually extends to mid June a lot
of years. We simply get more snow, and
have cooler conditions.
Take right now. everyone almost is
breaking records for warm weather, but
we have a foot of snow, and our high
when Maple creeks was plus 16, was -2.
