Wheat Growers to launch legal action against the
    CWB

    The Western Canadian Wheat Growers
Association has today instructed lawyers to
commence legal action against the Canadian
Wheat Board and eight of its directors for their
    misuse of farmers’ money.

“We have been contemplating legal action
against the CWB for quite some time now,” says
Kevin Bender, President of the Wheat Growers.
“The CWB’s decision to file a legal action against
the federal Minister of Agriculture was the tipping
point.   We cannot stand idly by and watch the
CWB directors continue to misuse our money.”

The Wheat Growers have instructed a reputable
law firm to pursue an injunction and all available
measures necessary to stop the CWB from
misusing farmer funds for political purposes,
including the legal action launched yesterday by
    the CWB.

“The CWB and its board of directors have a duty
to safeguard monies received from the sale of
grain,” says Gerrid Gust, Chair of the Wheat
Growers.  “This is not their personal slush fund.
They have no right to use farmers’ funds to
    advance a political agenda.”

Gust continues, “If certain CWB directors wish to
take legal action against the federal government
they should have to reach into their own pocket.
They should not be allowed to reach into mine.”

The formal application to the courts is expected
to be filed early next week.

“The Wheat Growers are looking forward to an
open market for wheat and barley,” says Bender.
“By taking this action, we hope to prevent the
CWB from wasting our money and standing in
the way of legislation that will give us the
freedom to sell our own grain.”

The only monkey business is Oberg and his losers spending our money to fight us.

So in your vein of thinking Agstar, the NFU (No Future Union), and the CWB board were shills and puppets for Goodale?

The WCWGA has always stood up for their members. They work on a shoestring budget but have very good people, both on their boards and as staff.

Thank god there's someone like them to balance the madness of the left wing.

The CWB speaks to and for the Teamsters'
Unions in Quebec as wl as the Public Service
            Union at the CWB.
The CWB speaks to and for the shipping
magnates. And buys ships behind cllosed doors.

The CWB remains as Wayne Easter's
megaphone. And Ralph Goodale's first tinker toy.

These guys are going to need resources and unfortunately do not have the pool accounts to dip into.

I challenge everyone to support their cause. This will not be cheap, and they need membership. I have never been a Wheat Grower Member and I am filling out my application today and will encourage others to do the same. Email, tweet, blog, phone hang out at the coffee shop whatever, help them out. But ultimately get as many behind them as possible.

Agstar, are you paying for both sides of the arguement?

Ms Nycole Turmel is representing Quebec Grain
Handlers during question period just now, so that
more, and higher paid québécois, can be
                  guaranteed jobs, by guaranteeing Western
farmers are forced to sell to the CWB.

By now, they probably look on it as money from
                  home. pars

No. Will do one of two things.
                      1. Wait to Aug 1
                      2. If the Act passes and the band of 8 is tossed, may sign a B if fixed price is fair.

I believe its Jan 2012 when open market fixed prices come out for new crop. Look at Charliep's usa prices chart and decide from that, is the risk worth it?
One thing for sure is if we had an open market much higher prices would have been availlable to us and a larger chunk of our storage would be gone now at higher prices instead of sitting on it all wondering what to do with it. Local feed prices are higher than everything except 13.5 cwrs number one and higher all durum and of course malt barley.

Realize a political question and not a market one but have to highlight something for anyone with an FPC. Spreads are narrower on initial payments than the current PRO. If adjustment payments were made today (won't happen any time soon), the protein spreads are likely to widen. If you have 1/2CWRS 12.5 protein or lower, make sure you sign the "A" series and deliver ASAP. If you going to hold wheat, store the higher protein.

From a previous thread, compare low protein 1 and 2 CWRS to the local feed market. 3CWRS/other classes store or sell domestic. FPC contracts - sign an "A" series and deliver. A record year if I remember right for FPC signup.

We have signed an A series contract. We need the cash flow. There is no guarantee prices will be higher next year. I would like higher wheat prices, but they are what they are. We're pooling ours this year as taking an FPC with the moisture we had going into last winter left too much risk. Basis levels with the FPC were and are insanely high, so we'll pool for now.

If you can afford to wait till next year to sell wheat fine. But manage the price risk somehow.

Braveheart you say you need cash flow which we
all do but if it's like last year most of my wheat
didn't move till July. I understand the price can go
either way I just think if I cash flowed last year I
can do it this year and not give the board a
                              penny.
