Canola Where are the 60 Bushel crops!

Not in our area and no where from Kamsack to Medicine hat. So where is the huge canola crops.
The heat did damage and those who don't believe it don't know canola. Their was seed blast.
But really just a simple question where in Western Canada is their huge huge canola crops. I'm thinking an average at best. With all flooded acreage I still don't think we will have huge carry over.

Also if their is a 129.00 a ton profit crushing canola and 29 ton crushing soy. Why such huge profit for the Canadian crushing industry.

You didnt drive south of Swift Current. You miss the best of the SW if you stay on the #1. There are some here that will make 55-60. Having trouble swathing it right now. Most will be 40-50 in this area. There is very little seed blast. 26-30 seeds in upper pods with lower pods at 36-44. So thick you cant walk thru it. There is at least 2x the normal amount of canola in the area. This is a small pocket however and am saying we really make little difference in the big picture. I will give you a no BS update when we harvest it. Funny thing this year the pioneer RR hybrids look better than the invigors. Seemed to have handled the heat in July better.

A few weeks ago, me and my better half did a trip through Saskatoon to Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Edmonton, Lloyd, and back through Saskatoon. Wow,was there a lot of canola. Not in the Banff and Jasper area of course, but in the ag areas it was YELLOW. Most crops looked pretty good. Some were late, but canola looks its best when it is blooming. Might not be a lot of 60 bu. crops out there but there are a lot that are pretty darn good.

Crops vary a lot here. Early seeded short, stunted, thin where wet, 25ish yields.
Later much better, could be in the 40's, but some are still blooming!
          Invigors easily better than RR.
Area over 50% canola. Last year was 10%.

            SF3,

On the 'profit' issue... I have heard the CDN crushers are supplying primarily the human consumption market... there are many times fewer of them than soyoil crushing that is also for the biofuel market that is high volume and low profit to make the numbers work in the fuel system.

SF3 on June 16 th we had a 60 bushel crop comming.

Then on June 17th we got 5.5 inches of Rain.

Then it didnt rain for 40 Days and in that forty days 20 of them were in the 30's.

Then on Aug 2 it decided to Rain but brought some hail with it an pounded the pods pretty good, and then again on Aug 6th.

Did I mention the diamond back infestation.

Swathing now and wont be much there. might have some disker ridges that may do 60 but the 5 everywhere alse will bring the average down.

Anyway long story short I know where there isn't 60 bushel crops!

But I will say there is a lot of nice West. Will be interesting to see.

I agree south of swift they look good in a pocket but areas like Regina to moosejaw that last year did wow don't look so great that's a huge area. east side of Sask and Manitoba the heat blast is for sure. Red river valley nice but later and along the mountains in Alberta late and prone to frost. So still sticking with the average crop.

In the Melfort, Tisdale, Carrot River, and Nipawin area the canola crop is really variable. From some very nice ones to some that for some reason don't look so stellar. Lots of fields have some drowned out spots. No bin buster here, but, still going to be lots of canola in my area.
I notice in touring the north east that there is hardly any peas this year and flax, well, maybe a half dozen fields or so. You really have to look to find a flax field this year for some reason. Oats appear to have taken over the decline of pea and flax acres. I hope the oat growers have some of this oat production pre priced!

There will be some decent canola in Alberta, if there is a late frost.
