    CWB vote

Who do I vote for in district 7? The incumbent is a communist, the challenger seems like a liberal.

    #2
The vitriol directed at Gerry Ritz is interesting because, to me, it exemplifies and underscores what so many farmers dispise the most in the current CWB minister, in past CWB chairman Ken Ritter, in present choice directors, in too many politicians, in some mayors, in some of your neighbors, and even in friends.

You know what I'm talking about.

    Opportunists who bullshit you.

They say they are one thing, while they do another.

They claim to represent one idea, but they don't support that idea.

They claim to support one idea, but they don't represent that idea.

They are not who they claim they are.

They will say anything, and do anything to continue to enjoy the benefits of the position, while avoiding the responsibilities that come with it.

Losing an election or nomination or position, while remaining true to principle is the ultimate political act of responsibility.

It also leaves an honorable foundation upon which the young, the dedicated, and new supporters can feel confident about; rebuilding upon a base with no decay; unashamed.

Some of you would disagree with Jim Chatenay's free market philospohy, but you cannot help but respect him.

He retired from his tenure true to his committment, and with his honor intact. He never swerved from his pledge to his voters. He honored the vote freely given to him, and he represented the overwhelming support he got, the best ways he knew how.

He never forgot who you were, because he never forgot who he was.

    That is called decency.

Decency would bring dramatic change to the CWB at this time.

But it has to be driven from farmers like you and I, from basic kitchen tables.

The John DePapes can clearly explain the economic follies of the single desk until the cows come home, and he does it so capably, so knowledgably, but the CWB and the directors will tick off each one, claim, "We'll get it right this time", promise change, as did Ritz, and then piss on each and every one of your collective legs, and tell you it is raining wheat Board dollars.

    But you already know this.

Until each and every one of you decide to elect a DECENT man who is unprepared to jail his fellow farmers for selling what they grow, and be proud to state it openly, well, AV'ers, you will continue to be forced to vote for tweakers, and tinkerers and weasels, and opportunists.

Say it aint so, Joe. Pars

So do you vote for Korneychuk who is hanging on to the status quo so hard his knuckles are white, or do you vote for Terry Youzwa, who's position is to improve farmer returns (through making changes)?

That may be too bland for you Parsley, but it really is not that different to Chatenay's position: the CWB impedes farmers ability to create wealth - many times Jim's approach was to simply get the CWB to change the way they did something - on the path to more substantial change. Would Terry do anything different? I'm confident that whatever he does will be very different than what Korneychuk has done over the last four years - which has been nothing to stop the four years of dismal performance and interference with farmers' ability to manage their businesses.

You can compare these guys to Chatenay all you like - we get it - you think Jim's a great guy. But the real choice is between Korneychuk and Youzwa. If I could, I'd vote for Youzwa. I like what he says, and besides, I know what Korneychuk is about and "that dog don't hunt".

        I would vote for Terry.

Hoping for????.... I'm not quite of the level of his committment. Are you?

And others are not as passionate about the CWB issues as am I, or as you are, DePape.

Turnout has never been very good, has it? But, have you noticed there is realtime-2010 voter apathy? Voters who ask, "What's the use?" Too many of them!

A candidate like Terry et al could well reassure the free market voters that sending in their ballots is indeed worthwhile. That he represents their view, and is not merely focused on making the Board 'stronger,'.

That he is committed to work towards change, not simply tweaking what is already in effect(God knows farmers don't need another five pages of CWB option-changes to try and figure out!!).

After all, the Stewies are not going to vote for him, anyhow. Pars

I e-mailed Terry to find out what his type of change would mean, where i should place my vote, and why I should even vote. I have not yet heard back. This makes me not want to vote at all...

Its like voting for getting hanging or death by a firing squad later. By the way I'm voting Terry. I also suggest do not vote 1st, 2nd 3rd etc, for the rest. Its a farce. Just make 1 vote and leave the rest.

freewheat good for you for trying to get involved.
Why don't you call him 306-862-7669 you know how it is w/ e-mail cut and pasting.

DePape has it right, we all know what kind of a NFU zombie Korneychuck is.

Also the fact is that under the NFU's direction the CWB has come to be the sorry sad operation that we have today.

If the farmers who believe it's wrong to jail people for selling Wheat, Durum and barley don't vote.
Don't be surprised if we get more of the same.
If we're lucky only two more years of inept marketing performance with over doses of piss poor policy direction.
I say if we`re lucky because getting good candidates is harder and harder.

Who knows maybe the federal Conservative Party of Canada will get a majority and finish the monopoly once and for all. If they don`t let them try and throw a few of us in jail.....
                  G

and parsley just so you don`t think I`m forgetting about you. I`ve got the greatest respect for Chateny you should call him.

Read the profiles of the farmers who have let their name stand for CWB Directorships.

You couldn't possibly forget about me, gusty, could you now, lol, Pars
