    Land Trusts

I would be interested in hearing people's thoughts and comments around the issue of Land Banks, Nature Conservancies ... and the like. Which organizations do you know about, or have you chosen to support? and why? What arguments have people made to you in opposition to these movements, and how have you responded?

We have approached Ducks Unlimited for the information. As explained to us, the land remains ours for our use but is designated as protected so that clear cutting of our forest or filling in of our wetlands does not occur ever. The only thing we did not agree with is that it is written against the deed. With the government involved, there is always uncertainty as to how they would put controls etc on in the future. The trust factor comes into play and from government track records trusting them doesn't exist any longer. It is unfortunate because the intention of protecting territory is fabulous!!
