UCP gerrymandering Alberta's electoral maps!

You can tell when the UCP and Danny Smith are really scarred. They start trying to cheat with highly partisan gerrymandered electoral maps.

They broke with a long held democratic tradition of non partisan electoral commissions in Canada and Alberta making the electoral maps and have gone down the gutter by appointing a partisan commission dominated by the UCP.

Smith and the UCP have adopted gerrymandering as a strategy to stay in power as long as possible.

They have purposely split Letbridge into 1 urban riding and 3 rural dominated ridings to dilute the NDP vote! And have diluted Calgary ridings in the same way adding in vast rural areas.

Welcome to Mississippi of the north where the Republicans make sure to marginalize black and democrat voters so they can't win with bizarre electoral districts designed to carve them out of power!

No doubt the MAGA folks see no problem with this partisan manipulation. Because it sure as hell looks the UCP doesn't really believe in democracy if they don't win! Sounds familiar.

As we know the MAGA sewer and donny tRump are oaky if they win but if they don't, the election was stolen!

And of course the UCP are more or less dominated by undemocratic MAGA influenced thinking that import this unCanadian electoral crap into Alberta.

Throw the unprincipled undemocratic cheaters out because they don't deserve to be in power. They can't be trusted!

"A redrawn electoral map has been the subject of intense debate and scrutiny since April when Ms. Smith rejected the proposed boundaries of a first independent commission.

Alberta’s political boundaries are revised every eight to 10 years by an independent panel, a process designed to foster compromise and limit political influence. For decades, provincial legislatures have routinely adopted the recommendations without question.

Ms. Smith’s decision to upend tradition, however, has fuelled accusations of gerrymandering.

After rejecting the first panel’s proposed map, Ms. Smith’s government formed a UCP-dominated committee that created a new independent panel charged with making a second attempt at drawing the electoral map. It was chaired by retired Alberta judge Brian O’Ferrall, selected by the UCP, and included two members tapped by the NDP and two by the UCP.

Alberta’s electoral boundary changes could reshape the political landscape. These maps show where (https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alberta/article-alberta-electoral-boundary-changes-ridings-political-landscape/)

The new report shows the five-person panel was sharply divided on how to proceed with the map, mirroring tensions among the previous group tasked with the redrawing.

The proposed map revealed Monday was drawn by Mr. O’Ferrall and the two members selected by the UCP: Monte Solberg, a former cabinet minister under prime minister Stephen Harper, and Darwin Durnie, who previously co-authored a submission recommending map changes that would see several ridings in Calgary blend with neighbouring rural communities.

A quick google search shows there is plenty of bitching and accusations from all political stripes every time boundaries are changed and seats increased.
