This belief that electricity will become more affordable is false. The belief that government getting more involved in the economy will make life more affordable and improve economic performance is also false. Look at the EU, its share of the World’s GDP was 27% in 1980(adjusted for purchasing power parity) that has declined to 14% today. Conversely the United States has remained at 26 percent with some fluctuation through the years.(From a Jack Mintz article in the Financial post this morning). China on the other hand went from 2% of World GDP in 1980 to between 16.5 to 18% depending on the source. Which country or group of countries had the most restrictive and regulated energy policies?
History and reality paint a much different picture than what is sold to us on a daily basis by government and the majority of the media.Last edited by Hamloc; Oct 30, 2026, 07:56.
