You guys looking for some conspiracy with Carney?
The CPP on behalf of all Canadians is also heavily invested in the US and other markets. Its called diversification. Our market is smaller and diversification spreads risk and opportunity.
You wanted a business like approach to governing and when Carney comes along with strong business credentials you suddenly change your ideology? LOL
You can never please the far right chronic complainers who have no serious party that represent them!
Canada's major pension funds allocate roughly 70% to 73% of their assets to foreign markets, giving them one of the lowest domestic allocations among global pension peers.
Domestic vs. Foreign Holdings- Foreign Allocation: Canadian public pension funds (PPFs) hold about 73% of their assets abroad. Only Finland (77%) and Sweden (75%) have higher foreign allocations.
- U.S. Exposure: The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and other top Canadian funds (the "Maple Eight") have roughly 47% of their total assets invested in the United States alone.
- Domestic Share: Canadian pension funds typically invest less than 30% at home. For context, international pension peers in similarly sized or larger economies often invest twice as much domestically. The Debate Over Holdings- Global Diversification: Proponents of the current strategy note that Canada's open approach—accelerated after the 2005 repeal of the foreign property cap—maximizes returns, reduces risk, and avoids constraining pensions to a smaller domestic market.
- Economic Nationalism: Critics and policymakers argue that Canadian pensions should invest more locally to support domestic productivity, pointing out that some funds have more capital tied up in single foreign countries (like China or the U.S.) than in Canadian equities.

The man spends money like you can create it with a keystroke?
Whats happened to the idea of a budget from Mr Wizard?
He just announced he is replacing the whole fleet at Via rail all in one keystroke.
$6.3 Billion on an enterprise that runs up to 2 days behind because they don't own the track and get parked whenever a freight goes by?
They get subsidies on the scale of the CBC.
Like that had to be done when we have an out control deficits.
Just a pump to make some economic activity in a failing economy.
With more taxpayers money.

He’s supposed to be an economist, hope he doesn’t teach his style. I too am an economist and we never learned anything like this guy learned. Our classes in public policy taught about how economic drivers spun off countless wealth with the money multiplier. What a smear he is to the study of economics.Last edited by sumdumguy; Sep 5, 2026, 15:31.

Carney is investing in infrastructure, ports, and the resource sector.
And our debt to GDP is still one of the best in the G7 and better than tRumps USA which is paying higher bond interest rate now.
So you wanna be republicans think tRump is a better fiscal manager?
